Thread on a Thread on a Thread: BMW 335iS

I don't put a lot of credence in RT and other mullet wrap magazine BUT the latest issue of Road and Track , March 2011 with the Next Gen 911 on it in Red has a test of the new 335 iS with the N54 engine (advertised at 320 bhp) the results were not particularly impressive:

0-60 4.6

Qtr: 13.2 @106.2 (car also has Available Launch control on DSG) Car tested had 6 speed manual tranny with Porsche's TT inspired overboost function

Price as tested : Ouch $ 57,540

Every wanna-be puke with 2 nickles to rub together will, that's who.

Of course, this isn't really all that bad in relation. I was just shopping for a new family hauler for my wife and went to check out the brand new Ford Explorer. With options, it was $50,000. Ouch. $50K for a better looking Flex/Taurus.

Most people dont buy new BMWs, they lease them. I love cars, but I dont like financing depreciation at over $800/month.

That's the article Austin!!!

One also has to realize that by the time you option it out, pay the tax, title etc, you're looking at well over $60 K for a 3 Series with no M badge to be found. Ouch!!!

What's up with the hatred for 335? I think they are beautiful cars, even though way overpriced at 57K

The thought of paying 60k for a car with NO "M" badge and that every private school girl will own because its "just too cute" makes me want to

More food for thought. 2011 M3 on the left and 2011 Mustang on the right. Look at those prices and number. BMW- What are you thinking?

NO hatred here, JUST confused as to how Big Money Wasted comes up with their imaginative pricing?? Tell me its $40-45 K and I am in!! Almost $60 K for a 335, are you nutz?? (and to boot, a new C63 will eat its lunch all day long and those CAN be HAD in the $60s (I've seen high $50s in the C63 forums) .

Heres another great example of BMW's wonderful pricing... Haha Highest end 5 for the price of a 335is... Very nice.

I wasn't referring to your comment, Newz. It was for Austin's remark on 335is being a girl's first car.

I agree that it is WAY overpriced like I stated. BMW tried to position the 335is in between regular 335s and M3s, but ended up being too close in price to the M and C63 with discounts, dumb move in my book.

I'm not hating. Call BMW and ask if more males or females drive off the lot in a new 3 series..... Besides. I would buy my daughter one. They are safe and girls think that are as cute as Jettas.... That and its the perfect girl car, anything goes wrong, just take it in, blown speaker, needs new brakes, needs new anything, all covered.

Geez, are you for real? Not only is your post very sexist but also without any credibility. Where are you getting your stats from? Don't throw claims out there without any data to back it up.

BMWs have always been overpriced, but guess what? They sell. For good reason. The 335 will provide better road feel, steering (you ever owned a bimmer? NOBODY does steering like BMW), braking and cornering poise than most cars. For a lot of people that have the money, that's all the reason that's needed.

It's one thing to criticize price, but another thing to bash something you don't even understand.

And sexist because I would buy my daughter a car thats ez for her to keep running and safe? Hm. Your right.... Ill make her build her own car or she cant have one at all.. Such a lame comment. Just because I am that type of man that likes to treat my girls like their safety and comfort always come first and they should never be left stranded on the side of the road, I am sexiest? To each their own.
