C55 won't shift under NOS
Hey guys,
New issue. With my 55 shot or even a 75 shot, everything seems great. I recently upped it to a 100 shot for the track this weekend and it seems my tranny doesn't want to upshift. (2-3 shift) I can't use the NOS in 1st because it's instant tire spin and quite useless. But I hit it at 4000 rpm in 2nd and it goes like a beast to redline and sorta hangs there.
I was wondering if there is a torque issue with the transmission. I have a window switch but I can't find a decent tach signal.
any ideas?
Mike

Torque Limiter: That's what I'm thinking too...I had that problem with my 185 and Jerry tuned it away....
Did u get tuned for the NOS?

Its possible that the TCU is doing the same here on the C55. Note that when I drove Jerry Tune and Jakes car, we never hit NOS out of gate, always in second gear. Like above^^^, ask Jerry or Jake at EC because they may need to tune that out............

I have never used the NOS in the 1/4 mile. I normally only use it to outrun unsuspecting z06's on the freeway (3rd gear only). I may just shut it off around 5800 rpm so the tranny can shift, then hit the button again after the gear change is complete. I definitely need to get the bands done and add the blue tops.

I think Hooley did the Blue Tops and they made a difference; There's a DIY on it as well. I hear it really shifts "hard" though if that's what you want, even off throttle shifts. Other than Blue Tops, the TCU can also be pulling back as well. Like I said above ^^ Jerry and Jake have a lot of experience in ZEX Nitrous with their C32s. Perhaps they had the same issue.

P.S. Sorry for the thread jack... lol

uh, is the car tuned?
Playing with nos bouncing off the redline and spinning in 1st is a very very very very bad idea....
Unless you wanna swap to an e55 engine...
Sounds like torque limiting, and you could be doing some damage there as well. Blue tops won't do a thing for that...just make your everyday driving annoying....

sure. it was fairly easy to wire up. I use a zex kit but I'm guessing any kit will be similar and require the same inputs (rpm and/or tps signals) for activation.

Mike, what Zex kit are you running? Is it for a different, particular application (im sure they dont make them specifically for AMGs), or do you use some kind of universal set-up?

After searching the zex site, they have no MB apps but they do have universals. So are you running Wet or Direct Port? Also are you running the kit for 4-6 cylinder cars, the two stage kit, or the turbo kit (no SC kit) to help deal with boost?
