RedLine and Passport SC55

Most of you know that I am a big fan of Radar Detectors/camera detectors and a frequent contributor to Radar forums. Anyway, about 18 months ago I purchased a BelsCort Redline when it first came out. Subjectively and objectively, its a great unit, better on K and Ka than BOTH of my Valentine Ones. The one big problem with it is that on K band , now used by many door openers and security systems on stores (not Ka band BUT K band), it screams like a stuffed pig. Well, I found a solution that'll work with most Escort models. Its called the SC55 and is a piggyback unit that allows you to set parameters for "quiet" called Cruise on the Redline. Its really cool.

For example, the SC55 is a redlight/speed camera detector that tells you where the redlight cameras are using Escort's Defender database of redlight and speed cameras. It is standalone and is not a radar/lidar detector. It uses GPS to alert you to the cameras and also whether they are directional (does it get you in the direction you're going). I previously had a Cobra and also Speed Cheetah for this but they dont piggyback. Now with the SC 55 I can set the unit to work with the Redline radar detector to keep quiet at say speeds below 25 mph (Cruise) when I don't want the Redline going off. Its really cool and works great.

So, now I have the Radar detectability of the Redline combined with a new quiet on Cruise with the SC55 and a great ability to detect redlight/speed cameras and also "mark" locations that are known "speed traps." Photos to follow.

What are you thinking of the new Beltronics STI-R Plus? And the Laser Interseptor dual for the C32?

I am neither a member of the Escort Army nor a V-1 Fanboi, BUT I'd say that your combination will kicks some A** BUT, also cost some serious $$ as well. If I were allowed to have a Lidar Unit, there's no doubt I'd get the LI Quad for front and rear hits!! GOL has tested the jammers and all TESTS say the LI is the best of the best for JTG and JFG.

As far as the Belscort is concerned, the STI-R is a great unit . Anything based on the M3 platform (not the M4 or the S7) is great). A total kick-A** system would be the Redline with the SC55 and a LI Quad (front and rear). Or the STI-R Plus with the LI!! Either way, total counter-measures!!! Good choice.

Before you do anything, hang on another month or two, I think Belscort has something in the works based on a Feb 2011 Patent filing. Also, V-1 is losing the patent on the directional arrows pretty soon and I am sure Belscort will jump all over that!!

I'm currently running Beltronics RX75 Pro so I can wait, but not for too long. It's just it is old technology by now and in a Magma Red car I need all the help I can get.
Regarding quad setup, I currently have a single laser shifter in the back and in 8 years never had to use it. The fronts however are used often here in NJ. God knows we pay enough taxes to purchase all of these laser guns.

What do you mean by "If I were allowed to have a Lidar Unit"?.

I'm sure you know that the Laser Interseptop also double as parking sensors.
There is also a technic that I and others use: jam --> slow down --> kill the jammer --> no ticket and no suspicion. The process should be less than 5 secs. An officer will never know she has been jammed.

Problem is this, most of IL SP have been trained what to look for with the sensors. Yes, it is a parking sensor till you get caught. Not worth it to me.

A good detector, Redline or V-1 plus the use of Veil coating and the SC55 increases my odds and lowers theirs!! Veil costing reduces the effective range of all Lidar Guns and is a coating and is legal.
