01 c32 transmition won't change up

Tried a search to no avail.

Not used the car much recently but today went for a drive in the sunny spring weather.

Once warmed up i noticed the gears wern't changing up seems like it is stuck in 2nd gear, anyway after a couple of miles I turned the car off but after a small rest the gears were still not responding??

Help please

Sounds like the car is going into "limp mode" Which means there is something wrong. Do you have an OBD reader handy? If not do you know somebody who does?

It could be either your battery or your ic pump or it could be more serious like a glycol contamination. When my battery died because of the seat heater issue, my car would not shift out of 1st gear. Also, when my ic pump died the car would lose all power and just rev but not go anywhere or be able to change a gear. Check the battery first because the battery affects the transmission. Good luck with your fix.

Thanks for your tips

I've done all the easy stuff, battery now fully charged, even disconnected it to try a reset but still the same.

Specialist want 12 days notice prior to looking at it

let you know the outcome

I managed to get the car into a local specialist workshop,they down loaded the fault codeshundreds & hundreds of them, they didn't know where to start so they cleared the fault history & went for a drive

A perfect smooth changing car i now have but they didn't understand how the problem had evolved????????

Any one take a guess?

When I had a failed IC pump for a good 2 weeks, I never had a problem where the transmission failed to change gears. The only time I did have this problem was when I put the car into "dyno mode". The car would be stuck in 2nd gear like you said and not change gear at all. When I switched dyno mode off, there were no problems. I've never tried dyno mode again since then. I would suggest investing into a code reader. They can be had for peanuts on Ebay ($30 or less).

Also, when my battery was low, I had an ESP failure but no codes.

So, what exactly is 'dyno mode"

Dyno Mode allows you to view some statistics the car doesn't normally show. It also allows you to turn of ESP for testing.

More on how, here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...dyno-mode.html
