Instrument cluster STAR Modification?

I had to replace my instrument cluster on my 05 C55. Unfortunately when the cluster was updated I lost a few of the features that I really like. The one I'm really missing right now is the passenger reverse mirror dipping. The dealership foreman said that Mercedes is unwilling or unable to put the feature back on the new cluster and that I am stuck with the current software on the cluster.

So I want to make sure if this is true, and as well I was wondering if someone who had access to STAR developer mode will they be able to turn this back on?

Should be no problem re-enabling with a STAR system that has developer mode. Check with Karo, as he may be able to do it for you. If not, drive up to Sacramento area in July, and I'll do it for you.

I thought pass mirror dipping was that you have to have the mirror selector push button (on the left side of the steering wheel) in the passenger position when in reverse. Will not dip if you have it selected in the driver side.

If your selector is in the passenger position, your side view mirror dips down when you're in reverse so you can see the curb.

Yes you are right. It only dips down when you have the passenger position selected. If you select the drivers position (the left button), the passenger mirror will not dip down to your memorized position But in my case, they removed the option in the convenience menu to do that when I replaced my instrument cluster. So I don't have that option anymore

I never knew the selector switch changed it. Thanks, I love the feature, but no so much when packing out of places.

Can try this dude not far from you, who has a STAR and has done some great work in the area. Not sure about "developer mode" but ask him. He's a straight shooter.

I always wondered about this feature because I can't get it to work. In the convenience section of the menu I have the park assist turned on, have the selector on the passenger but nothing gets the mirrors to move when I am in reverse. I can adjust the mirrors manually by pushing the buttons, so I know the power works.

Thx!
