P0342 CEL - CPS?

Hey all, I have a CEL on and when pulling the code it pulls this. The engine does idle rough (bounces 100-200 at idle) and my gas mileage has gone down about 2 mpg.

In any case does a P0342 point towards the Crank Position Sensor or would it be the Cam position sensor (never heard of this being a problem before)

Thanks, that's where I got what it was for. Just wasn't sure if it was common knowledge in our community that it can be caused by something else.

Sorry brother, not much info bout that one.

I did however find this, dunno if this helps you:

http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?content=DTC_P0342

And some advice to someone else:
"Check and clean your camshaft sensor (carefully remove it and spray it with an electronic cleaner or brake cleaner, be sure that it is dry when you installed your sensor), replace if needed."

Sounds like it might be an easy fix tho? But the part I think is around $170

Thanks, I didn't think to get the multimeter out. I looked it up in WIS and it's 1 bolt on the front of the engine. Easy like you said. I hate that the part cost that much. I was hoping it'd be cheap and I could fix it myself on Saturday. I was hoping the to autocross on Sunday, but no opening at the garage so my warranty will cover it.

How many miles on the car and when was the last time the wires were replaced?

Right around 44k and probably the original wires. I have not replaced them in the 15k I've owned the car.

My money is on the wires. My rule of thumb is replace every 5 years regardless of miles driven and I use OEM.
