cts v
saw a cts v today so i followed him until we were out of traffic finally got in next to him at the front of the light.....we both gunned it on green and he pulled away almost 3 car lengths and we stayed about the same up to 80 before we had to slow down...fast car lol...he squealed the tires in every gear and it had a badass sound....looked to me like an older one but i could be wrong what do you guys think?

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was indeed an older one. the newer second gen, which is supercharged, would have pulled more than 3 cars on you. your car is relatively stock from a performance perspective....additionally, the CTS V motors (LS2 and LS6 in the 1st gen) are relatively cheap to mod and are very responsive to modifications (make a CRAP ton of power off headers). i don't see this result as a surprise

idk what his mods were. i can tell you that i hang with a factory freak LS1 camaro with lid, long tube headers, and catback exhaust with an excellent driver.
i've pulled on stock CTS-Vs in the past from that generation...can't say i've raced a highly modded one. i've pulled on or stayed with some relatively "quick" cars....like a turbo g35 running i think 6 psi (this was before i had headers)...i imagine that i could likely stay even or pull on one with long tubes....but who knows? paper racing is just paper racing lol. gotta line it up at the drag strip or somethin to know for sure.
i do respect those engines though and their responsiveness to modifications....those LS motors are legit. and y'all might hate on me for this comment, but i actually liked the Pontiact G8 GXP and would rock it. love those engines.

The new CTS V In every challenge televised they are more then a match to the E or CLS63 as well as the M5....On a show with pro racers Paul and Ryan the E63 only barely beat it in top speed in a mile other then that it got its a$$ handed to it.

The new ones, 09-XX forget it, they are very quick and fast and are more on terms of a very good running Vette!! The Kleemann has run a 10 CTS-V and hung with it...................
The Caddy V models are nothing to scoff at..................
The 04-05s all seem to have hooking issues and have a decent trap but low 13 times, so I'd reckon that without drag radials, they are very hard to launch...........I imagine that the 60 foot times are reflective of this issue and a show of Dragtimes confirms this that the older V s are all over 2.0 on the 60 foot times........The new ones aren't doing much better on street tires.........

GM LSX engines FTW! lol
Sorry guys, had to jump in on this when I saw CTS-V as the title. I love my E500 but, hate me for saying it, but I would love to try and stuff an LSX engine in my E500 just to do it and scare the ever loving **** out of people trying to mess with my Benz.
/threadjack
PS. I've had 2 Pontiac GTOs with the LS2s in them and I had a blast adding and adding power.

Cee Fiddy Five
The new CTS got bigger I believe, to be in the same category as the E and 5 series. That's what the Caddy salesperson said at least.
