$630 for driver side door actuator, really?
I feel I am being robbed. I just spent 2K replacing the clutch of the supercharger and the next day the driver side door actuator has gone bad. Any ideas how I can save money on the part? I am not handy with installation but at least don't want to get ripped off on parts by paying dealership the retail price. Thanks in advance,

And with the part number from Gramma Benz... drum roll please... $142.60 from RMEuro (http://www.rmeuropean.com/search.asp...=203-720-01-35).
Part Number: 203-720-01-35 Door Lock Mechanism Left Front Manufacturer: GENUINE MERCEDES
46 in Stock 155.00 $142.60
There you go.
I have ordered from RMEuropean several times and they are very reputable, I would recommend.

I paid $100 for the part (with a discount at the dealer) and installed myself
You will need a pop-rivet gun for removing the airbag assembly.
Took 45 minutes and im in no way near the technical level of a MB tech.
$600 is crazy

Apparently the spring goes bad and what causes your actuator to fail. I think you can find a repair kit on ebay for about $30, but if you want a new one, then $145 is not a bad deal.

Thought I'd bump this post. Looks like all W203 doors are doomed to have this problem.
Similar problem in W211 E-Class From this forum, there's a link to a UK seller that sells supposedly beefier replacement springs for various models, including the W203.

Enter code MBO1498 for a 25% discount. Just tried the code - it still works as of now. Fingers crossed that these springs are indeed stronger.
