C55 - Annoying Door Lock Nobby

Hey,

So, I like to drive my C55 with the windows down with my arm on the door *1. However, the little *** which goes up and down to indicate that the door is locked/unlocked really gets in the way of my arm in my normal driving position.

Has anybody else had this issue? Can we get a replacement *** that doesn't stick up as tall perhaps?

Thanks!
-Z

I had the same problem, but a set of new door lock pins off of EBay solved that. The OEM pins twist right out, the new ones twist right on, but require a bit of force and I ended up with a blister. Here's the pins I bought, but can't remember if this is the same guy I bought them from : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BENZ-...#ht_2839wt_941

I can't tell from the post if these guys are shorter or less obnoxious than the OEM ones. Do you have a photo of them installed perchance?

They're shorter and they sit flush against the door itself. I'll try and take a pic when I get a chance later.

They look like the ones I got, which sit pretty much flush when the doors are locked. Have a look at the pic's I included in my post #12.

Dresses up the car and eliminated the annoyance you rightly point out. A complete no-brainer.

If you do a search, there is an old thread with part numbers for the CLK door lock pins (or maybe E-class?). Either way they look the exact same as the stock C55 ones but they sit flush when locked and cost $6 at the dealership.

Huge +1. These came in today. Managed to install them on the front doors (don't seem to work as well on the backs, but I don't care about the back). Works perfectly in the front!

I can't tighten the fronts 100% though or the door locks can't lock, but I loosen them 2 or 3 turns all is well with the world Totally worth the $30 or so.
