I just noticed this within the last few days. The car runs/idles just fine. Driving it around town, there are no problems. It runs smooth, no shaking or sputtering. In the last few days though, I noticed that if I push it a bit while accelerating, I see a bit of whitish smoke coming from the exhaust. It only seems to be apparent in the upper rpm range, then stops after shifting to the next gear. The car pulls fine the entire time and there doesn't seem to be any loss in power. I did put some cheaper quality gas in it recently and am wondering if this could be the culprit, or something else. The car does have just a bit over 100k miles.
Another update:
The car idles smooth, but now it sounds a bit louder and feels like it bogs a little until I give it a bit more throttle. I'm starting to think that the cats are beginning to fail.

Smoke is never a good thing. But as has already been asked, what color is the smoke?

Coolant then, thats not so good. I guess the next question is what does it smell like either from inside the car or behind it. If its a slight sweet kinda smell then its coolant for sure.Originally Posted by Newzchspy

Could be water in the gas if NOT coolant and there's no appreciable coolant loss. Run a couple of good tanks of gas, Exxon, Shell Amoco premium and see if it continues?? The IC on these cars will also start to go bad and leak and you'll see a coolant loss and sometimes white smoke and a sweet smell" (race fuel also has a sweet smell).Originally Posted by Zeebrock

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?
