C32 T 2003. Mods? MANY!! :)
All I can say is go for it!!

But just like people are saying, don't just think that you can update the engine, without also updating the driveline, brakes and so on. And of course you will need a lot of $$$$$ as your budget are Always increasing.

But I still say go for it!!

So I talked to Cory at Kleemann about the Bi turbo clk55 and he said for about half the price the guy spent to twin turbo the clk55 that I could buy a nice used SL65 AMG.... He also said that the project was to not be duplicated...

I may just look for a 55k engine. Now I would like to know this. What is the difference in the 55k engines. I have seen on multiple websites offering different information on the Hp rating. Is there a difference in the motor or just the tuning? Also does anyone know were to find a 55k motor?

IIRC, the primary differences between the two most common outputs (E55 469 HP and SL55/CL55/S55 493) are the intake and ECU mapping. I thought the 493 HP motors used a split / different intake then the E55, but I can't remember.

Do you really want to do an engine swap? You'll have a real hard time getting rid of the car with a different engine than what came with it.

As I said earlier, perhaps you just want to start with an E55.

I do not want a E55. I want a BOOSTED C55. I dont plan on selling the car and it wont be sold with the 55k motor if I had to.. I can put the car back to stock including the motor when I go to sell it...

Yeah but if what he is saying that is true about the expense than I cannot go that route. I didnt think a twin turbo kit could cost that much...

If you're talking to him again, ask Cory whatever happened to that TT'ed C55 several years back - a guy by the screen name of MBMexico on AMGPower had a custom Kleemann job done and purportedly had monstrous power.

Nope - all links to that build have been dead for quite some time. In addition, the guy never posted about it again. The car was supposed to be featured in some magazine, but that never transpired either.

Anyway, the build appeared to be legit because he posted plenty of photos at the time - had a reinforced tranny and a widened rear-end.

Okay, so I think I found some info on the twin turbo C55. Check it out.

Sure thing! In the mean time, enjoy these few pics of the vehicle a couple of weeks ago before it went into the paint shop. You can appreciate the wide body work etc... that has been done to accommodate the wider axle, wheels, tires, etc...
Well, its got a quiff differential with SL65 rear axle and 315 R19 PS2´s including launch control through an Autronik ECU, so we are actually pulling very low 10s. Its deadly fast!! Car is made for that. We have not yet tracked it, but a lot of work has also gone to the suspension (lowering center of gravity, wider front and rear suspension and axle, camber, thinker sway bars, coil overs, and some other things I can´t even recall), wheels, brakes, aerodynamics, weight reduction, you name it. Its a very, very professional job that has taken over 24 months to complete!

I think this info applies to the guys twin turbo ML63 not the C55. I think

yes, it's almost pointless to have that much tq down low and then have less up top, better to have a more even TQ curve, more up top where the engine spends it's time once one is "progressing threw the gears."

I just got back from a test drive and .....this car without the boost defeat would kill alot of people ..both the competition and the driver ;-). if you are cruising in 3rd and floor it, it is instant wheel spin when the gear box kicks down, you have to be going straight and still then it's too exciting. Really the car is undriveable in the lower gears with the boost this way...but it won't be. It doesn't even feel like a car, it's hard to describe, it's more like a machine that shreds tires!! No worries , the boost defeat will make it useable power. Before when I had the mofified wastegate actuators on (able to run low boost in low gears) the cars was much more manageable. So I am looking forward to the best of both worlds. Quite amazing the shrieking sound and it really just spins those huge 325 PS2 tires as if they were not there!

Everytime I look up after doing just a "kick down test" the speedo says 120 mph, it's really something only takes a moment.

The car drives fine and is actually comfortable, but "firm" I wanted to check the wheel clearances, it's seems o.k so far. I had to modify a few things because the previous bodyshop did not quite make the flares in the best way, so I modified quite a few things and I think it is good. I don't want to find out there is clearance issuues AFTER the next bodywork.

I think this is the fastest car I have ever built, I built a very very fast evo8, it had less power, but much more traction, I wish the drag strip was open...

I'll need to have a low boost switch setting hidden somewhere

I have a lot of little details to do, but we will get it to the bodyshop now and attend to those afterwards.

You will have a problem with passengers in this car they will always being screaming your "Jesus!!" let me out...
Here´s a dyno with 91 octane of crank hp (820+) and torque (930+), Some adjustments will be made to the turbo housing to reduce torque in the lower gears and increase hp, we are also working on a race fuel setting for 112 octane (power here should be absolutely wild):

When I visited klee colorado, they were pulling the parts from a c55 and putting them into a clk... which is the TT clk I saw there. Perhaps same car's parts getting transplanted into the clk?

I asked Cory at Kleemann and he said they were both different projects and he wont give me details and they both are not going to be duplicated.. Both cars cost about 100k to build apperantly.

There is tons of info on how turbos are done, all we have to do is figure out how to apply it to a Mercedes. I bet a lot of what hooley did could be applied to a turbo project. We just need to fool the ecu and tune it. Probably easier said then done, but hooley was able to use a 55k supercharger on his c55 and got it to work, I don't see why it would take $100k to do it.

From what cory told me the klee blower housing is just a gutted box to serve as intake mani. There is a set of aux injectors when under boost!

This is not a very exotic setup in the tuner world...... but having access to the ecu is the key........ or at least be able to run a piggy back controller for the aux injectors.....

Well the shop here that does a lot of cool custom work including the Z I mentioned before quoted me for under 10k (estimated) to do the turbo project. That is not including any tuning however...

A used 55K engine can be found for about $7-10K but the warranty period on these motors scares me. Usually they only cover a maximum of 1 year.
