Muffler Delete?
Hey All,
I want to do the rear diffuser / quad exhaust but I do not want to get a x pipe muffler to put in place of the secondary cats.
I want to keep my cats in and I was thinking that I could remove my muffler ot get some noise instead.
What do you guys think? Does anyone have a sound clip of muffler delete?
Also, if I did keep my muffler would a muffler shop be able to attach another pipe to it to run along the spare tire well to create a dual exhaust?
Thanks!

You should just do the X pipe idea, you will also get performance with some sound. Unless you are trying to appeal the Honda crowd and just put a fartcannon and sound like a tractor...

Just have the secondary cats and the resonator removed and replace it with straight pipe. This will be the easiest thing to do and it will give you the sound that you are looking for.

lol nonono no vtec for me. The X pipe idea is good, but I just don't know what muffler to choose. Do I go with just a standard dual in dual out muffler. What diameter? Do I get an X Pipe Muffler?
There's just so many questions and variables. From what I've read exhaust is pretty tricky to get right.
I feel like if I keep the exhaust the way it is and just add a pipe from the existing AMG muffler things will be correct since I won't be fiddling with other exhaust components.
This make sense?

Yeah that makes sense finatic, I'm just seeing what my options are for this project. I think it would be ugly to see a muffler on one side and then no muffler lol
I already have a straight pipe in place of the resonator, so I would just have to have a y pipe in place of the secondary cats...
But if I want to run the dual setup wouldn't I need another y pipe at the end of the straight pipe (in place of resonator), or even easier an x pipe?

Well I'm just a college kid so I want to spend as little as I can, but at the same time I want it done right you know? I've been thinking that I'll probably just have to buy this :
http://www.amazon.com/Magnaflow-1138.../dp/B000XQJZ34
This will be placed where the secondary cats were as I plan to remove them.
This is a resonated X pipe, then I plan to buy these :
http://www.amazon.com/Exhaust-Tip-St...=pd_sbs_auto_3
I will have it welded all together and it should look like this.
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...m-exhaust.html
I've figured this is the best way to do it after looking at almost every quad exhaust thread lol
Opinions? Backpressure?

ok learn from my mistake i didnt bother looking into all the post but i tried a whole bunch of setups but finally cut the long story short all of them were obnoxious they sound good when its installed and you are standing still with the car in park but when the sc kicks in it sounds like a damn fart cank 3500 dollars later i put the original amg muffler back on and split the exhaust pipe to move to the right but you are going to need a diffuser before you do the exhaust work.

the reason it sounds good its because its not in motion on the freeway there is a droll that i have only found the original amg muffler to fix at highway speed. i mean all my previous setup sounded really good in town up untill i got on the freeway and the sound inside the car was driving me nuts . i just wish i knew to ask the shop to reuse the amg mufler like the weltmeister exhaust.

i prettymuch just copied the weltmeister design but with the stock muffler while you are at it, you might want to just take the resonator off and perhaps the rear cats aswell i attached the picture that you should give your guy please make sure you agree on the price before he starts doing the job because the guy that did mine lets just say he needed allot of smokes to get it perfect and it took him longer than he expected and you want the same person that does the exhaust to install the diffuser good luck

no sound clips its just a bit deeper than stock but i was going more for the quad look than louder sound it only make a difference when you are flooring it since i only deleted the resonator which isnt really much if you want the sound delete the cats aswell. this car has been my daily commuter for 160 miles a day for the past 2 years hence my 147k miles i didnt want something too loud while im on the road for 4 hours out of my day
