5,5l V8 W203
there are rumours about the new C 55 AMG W203. In german forums they talk about a not supercharged 5,5 l V8 engine which will be installed in the C klass at the beginning of 2004. This version will replace the supercharged V6 engine.
I don´t know if thats true but if it is then the C 32 AMG will get collectors value very fast.
Regards,
This is more or less the same rumour that I heared over in Stuttgard. Seems like MB is going to back of from compressor engines due to heavy fuel usage.

What's the mpg on a C32? I don't see how it can get worse gas mileage than a 5.5l engine.
The V6 Kompressor is a nice tool, but it doesn't even come close the the "sex appeal" of a real V8. A V8 is just smoother, feels more relaxed and powerful in every situation. Not to forget the sound.

BTW, even if you limited the C32 to 1000 total, that is not extremely rare, given the amount of cars on sale right now.

How many C32's have been produced already? I thought in the US, production is limited to 1000 or so a year.

However, this move would surprise me because Mercedes is using boost in all the prestige line cars now and I seriously doubt that M-B is sweating the economy issue either. Time will tell!

You couldn't fit a V8 Kompressor into the C / SLK / CLK and it would be too heavy, too. However the V8 is only 20 kg heavier than the V6 Kompressor.
