C55 - charcoal cabin air filter location

Folks,

I am not able to find the charcoal cabin air filters in my 06 C55. I pulled the cover from under the dash as instructed, but only see thermocoal/foam under there. The foam box wont budge. I don't see any other obvious screws either. No filters.

Just to be clear, I am referring to the cabin air filters that are usually in/near the heater box. Not the dust filter that is with the battery cover.

Can anyone help?

I think the C55 did not come with it, that's the reason why the car does not have the digital a/c unit. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that on here.

I don't believe that option was available in the US.

Got it, thanks folks. I already replaced the dust filter on top of the battery cover.

Weird how the base C class has cabin filters but the C55 doesn't. Whatever.

The dust filter is the cabin filter. The charcoal filters are to filter the air internally. Only the C32 and C320 got it from the factory all the other ones did not, if I remember correctly and that was only 2004 and back.

I did try to search first and came up with these...

Are these the right part numbers for the dust filter and the engine air filter (05 C55)?

203 830 09 18 - dust filter

112 094 06 04 - engine air filter (I need 2 right?)

Just wanted to make sure before I place my order.
And is Parts.com really the best place to order these, or is there a cheaper but reputable MB OEM parts site that you guys use?

was 1999 C230K then 2003 C32 AMG now looking for a C63 AMG

Can you imagine my surprise when there was a $75 line item on a recent B service for "air filters" yet my Engine has K&N's [that werent cleaned or stolen]. I about blew a gasket [no pun intended]. I asked the shop to show me this $75 filter they changed, and hilarity ensued when they showed me the cabin filter on my C32... To be fair, most of the cost was labor.

I apologize for jump-starting an old thread but I would like to clear up this confusion.

After researching Mercedes Atlanta parts database, calling my local dealer and purchasing under dashboard charcoal filters from ECS Tuning... I would assume that my car has the under dashboard filters since all of these sources say the car has them. Even this video points to them being there -
(non digital hvac)

Here is what I found. (I apologize for the mess of wires) Did North American C55s have these filters or not? If not, all of these sources are incorrect.

Richard, you don't have charcoal filter, only dust filter at the battery. It is strange as all the Europe c55's (mine included) that i have seen has charcoal filter.

See picture

So does the dust filter at the battery serve as the cabin filter or something else? I still don't understand yet what the dust filter is for.

The original purpose of the cabin air filter was to remove solid contaminants like dust, pollen and soot from air entering the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Sometime you may see two different filters for the same application.
Often one of these filters contains activated carbon. The carbon cabin air filters still remove dust, pollen and other contaminants from the air, but they also adsorb exhaust fumes and unpleasant odors prior to entering the passenger area of a vehicle.
The charcoal in the filters is treated with chemicals and heat to give it specific odor-control properties. Charcoal traps odor- causing gases by adsorption (not absorption), and therefore holds the gases on the surface of the charcoal treated media. Because charcoal is porous, the filter has a very high capacity for trapping noxious gases.
