2003 C32 Totaled
Yesterday, I finally got a called from my insurance company saying the car is totaled. They will offer my $16,939 + Tax for the car. Is this a good deal?
Either way I had proceed to lease a new 2012 C250 sedan (didn't get approved for coupe by the queen), a downgrade, but being a family man w/2 kids now, all cost goes kids...
Other then power, C250 offer everything else better...handling, comfort, updated toys...love the Bluetooth Audio Streaming!

The initial visual estimate by field adjust was around $7k to fix but once the car send to body shop (specific authorized by insurance co), the price jump another $6k due to the frame, axial and electrical damage. So total cost to repair is $13k. I guess these is still risk of going up another 10-20% and risk of not fixed to the AMG standard?!

My wife was having few restless night after the accident and we just so glad everyone is okay. Car can be replace, physical and mental damage will take time.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
So you feel the brakes and handling of the c250 is greater than the c32? Interesting...
C32 might have better brakes due to the size but c250 does have better chassis ,steering feedback, faster shifting 7sp which provide me better handling feel. Yet to take it to PCH/Topanga Cyn run, so just give it a few days will get more in-depth conclusion. So I guess for now, other then Engine & Brakes, everything else is better on C250, and price.
I'm paying $0 down $400/mo incl 8.75% tax for 24mo/24k mi lease. If I really miss the power, I can always get the AMG back into my garage in less then 2 yrs.
JUAN, I'm with State Farm insurance. The problem with HIGHER Total value is your minimum damage cost need to be higher as well! I think 70% repair cost to Retail Market Value is the threshold to consider total. As I mentioned, the initial est. by field adjuster only est. 50% of what body shop did. They basically gave me the roller coaster ride because I want my car to be Totaled!! A 9+ yrs old car and with frame damage is simply not worth and safe to repair.
That being said, you got a good deal from your insurance company; if I got $17.000 for my car, I'd gladly sell it
That rear-end (rear quarter, C pillar) damage would never be the same... not to mention, perhaps frame damage and other issues that might present afterward.
Walk-away clean was/is the right move here, IMHO.

The buy back price is around $4k per claim adjustor. I probably not able to make $4k from it and too much hassel...u have to dump the body later for a cost. The damange has shift the entire rear subframe, the total cost to repair is $14k. That's why is totaled. Ins. paid me 18k and dump it for 4k, so it's about even to fix or total. Since the other party is also having the exact same Ins. company as me, I guess I'm not getting any extra ordinary amount for total.
