The Car and Driver and Road and Track comparison reviews of (variously) the Audi S4 and Cadillac CTS-V versus the C55 are readily available online.

My preference, however, is for the British motoring press, in particular, evo magazine. I vividly recall seeing the very first issue on the shelves in the fall of 1998 when I was on exchange in England. Shortly thereafter, I became hooked and have been a loyal reader since. In my mind, evo does a much better job reviewing cars as to their subjective feel and is much less concerned with statistics.
Digging through the old archives, I've found two instances that evo drove the C55. Attached are PDF scans of those articles. The first is the initial drive of the car in October 2004 - they drive an estate version actually. The second is a comparison with the BMW M3 and Audi RS4 in February 2006. Hope everyone enjoys reading the articles.

Those bring back memories. The Evo comparison test of the C55 vs M3 vs RS4 was a brilliant article. I also have in my archives all the C55 road tests I could find back in the day.
I didn't realize that Evo tested the C55 Estate. The First Drive version I have from Evo is of the C55 Sedan.
