2005 C32 4Matic - That's Not A Typo! :D
Very nice and interesting project!! Are you planning to do other performance enhancing modifications like AMG brakes, suspension, etc, etc?
I used to have a C240.....thought about adding a Kleeman supercharger to spcie it up, but decided in the end to simply upgrade to a C55.

Hey now my C240 is not that slow :P Ok they are pretty slow. That is one amazing swap you did. That really is a wonderful idea and project. I personlly only use my C240 as a DD and a just a run around car to put miles on and would not attept this project for myself. You went the right route on getting more BHP out of the car. Too many times we have people on sites ask how to get more bhp out of a 2.6 170bhp engine. Simple this thread is the solution.

Great work! I agree that if you have the time and the finances and you want a specific engine with a specific drivetrain then yes you do have to take matters into your own hands and this is a perfect example of what a factory option should have been. I personally would love a C300 4matic in 6 speed and swap a C63 engine and do all components.
Rudy's work is the best (and Marcin too). I drove the car last week in the wet and it rocks. Right now its stock 3.2 S/C and I saw Rudy today and we discussed the mods he's going to do!! Its really a neat car!! Great job as always Rudy and Speedriven!!! Its going to be scary fast when he gets it all dialed in and modded. My C55 SC is getting nervous!!

I drove it and its a blast in the wet/rain; It reminds me of an ML55 AMG with a LOT less weight!! It just hooks and goes...............
I'm guessing it wasn't exactly 'plug and play', electronics wise. I'm interested (just for interest's sake) to see what was required on that front. It seems to me the engine and trans just bolted right up, and no real 'hardware' mods required?
The :P is suppose to be someone sticking their tongue out jokingly

I think the easiest way of doing it would be having a complete donor car. If you can get the engine, wiring harness, ecu, eis, keys, and odometer, it would be a piece of cake. I don't think you would need to recode anything. I'm sure rcompart can explain how to do it in detail.

There is actually a decent amount of coding since the ESP, trans, SAMs, etc are all looking at an ECU that was never destined for this car and coding it directly as a C240 or C32 yielded much disappointment when getting into the throttle or trying to get all the secondary systems working. When it was all coded as the 240 which was the starting point, throttle response was terrible as it was seeing WAY more power than it wanted to see and when coded straight as a 32, the ESP freaked out when it saw the front tires spinning at different speeds. I actually had to try three versions of ECUs to find one that would let me make the changes in coding I needed so everything would be happy. But after some tinkering, all has been well.

Here's a shot of the ECU compartment wiring in all it's glory. (I know, it's a mess in there)

One thing I have been wondering is after I upgrade the internals of the trans, do the coilover suspension, install the ginormous brakes, update the exterior / interior in a way befitting something that would come from AMG, and throw on the power adders, would it be poser to put AMG badge on it? It already has the powerplant and it has been said "no motor, no badge".

So does the car basically think it's a C32 with AWD, or does it think it's a C240 4Matic with a lot more power?
Regarding the AMG 'accoutrement' - big brakes, nicer leather, etc - would it have been easier to swap the AWD drivetrain into a C32?

Good question!! It feels more like a 240 with AMG power than a C32. Feels more planted , albeit heavier than my C32. Not quite as lithe!! I drove it in the rain and it hooked right up and went. No wheel spin and no drama. In the qtr mile & modded, this thing can set some records.
Correct. The only AMG's made in 4WD are the ones you listed. I as well have never seen this set up done and to be honest never even gave it a thought. One hell of a idea and who knows this could take off and we may have alot more AMG 4matic's on our fourms.
Out-freaking-standing. I always admired how the Audi RS models had AWD.
My only complaint would be the look on my face if I saw this car at the light. I would think it was a normal C240 and wonder how it was staying with or beating me.
On second thought, I don't believe you really did this. You can prove it by swapping an AWD transmission in my C32.
