Wait the shop/person that did this swap is in Chicago?

Looking to get exhaust work done in the spring, is this an individual effort or a shop?

With Eurocharged not in Chicagoland anymore, not sure where to go.

On second thought, I don't believe you really did this. You can prove it by swapping an AWD transmission in my C32.
Fixed that for you!!! ^ ^ ^ (in bold)

It clicked afterward when I saw they were out of Palatine.

And I think 900 times is a bit excessive.

@rcompart I'm just giving advice based off my experience, if my assistance isn't wanted then I'll remove myself, I'm not here to argue rather help based of any past personal experience.

Cheers!

My cost would be considerably different than someone paying a shop to do this as I had no labor costs. Contrary to popular belief, this swap isn't something that you just pull the old motor and install the new one. There is a good amount of labor that is necessary to make everything work between the different oil pan and pump, the accessory plumbing and the various changes to the wiring harness and connectors.

I had to put back in my old E32 M112, and a used transfer case from a salvage yard.

For me I had obtained the C32 AMG engine from a buddy that worked in a salvage yard, had only 78K KM on it, ran smooth, the install from a local import shop cost about $1300, engine cost me about $900 from my guy. Overall a little over $2k great experience but didn't go for long, I was out a transfer case in the end so yeah, be cautious.

Goodluck!
Your prices are not adding up. I had my 32AMG from a previous car and I didn't have any labor costs but I still spent more on this swap than what you are saying you paid for the engine and labor. I don't know exactly how many hours I had wrapped into my swap but it was well over 20 hours so unless your shop charged you less than $50/hour and you didn't have to buy any additional parts for the swap, I'm saying pics or it didn't happen. Also, 30k heavily modded miles later and dead-hooking 12.3s at the track on on winter tires, I had zero issues with the transfer case.

I have a spare transfer case with 15k miles on it that I picked up right after I did the swap to make sure if I shelled it, the car wouldn't be down while I sourced another one as it became my daily and the t-case is still sitting in the same box it came in. I'm not saying you won't grenade one if you do the swap but I will say that I wasn't easy on mine but good judgement served me well with it's longevity. I'd say if you don't peel out from a slippery surface onto dry pavement, you should be just fine.

I'm doing one now - a SLK32 AMG engine into my C320. I posted a thread last week. All is going OK had to change the oil pumps, oit pans & engine mounts, Its bolted in now and I'm dealing with the main harness pug - I have two males and I would really like some help on this area.

Does anyone have any more information on this swap? I want to do it to my car. For context I have a 2005 C240 4matic and while its not the best car in the world I have sentimental attachment to it. My questions are which oil pan was used, what did you do for the electronics, and overall should I think of swapping a different transmission "while Im in there" (thinking of E500 4matic).
