SLK32 AMG Dyno Runs w/Evosport Pullies

Well, I just got my SLK32 AMG back from the shop and thought I'd dyno it before completing the Evosport ODPS modification. The car is 100% stock except for the pullies. Stock software, exhaust, filters, etc. Gasoline used was Sunoco Ultra 94. I did ice the blower down for a good 30 minutes prior to the first run. Surprisingly, this made little difference, as my last run happened to be my best. Go figure.

Anyway, here are the 3rd gear pulls (correction factor of 1.02 SAE). The last run includes the A/F ratio. Everything looks pretty good to me.

Is this a factory freak or could there be a reason for the high numbers? A stock '99 Vette put down 302 at the wheels on this same dyno and my new (broken) 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT put down 337 at the wheels on this same dyno just two days ago. So I think it's a pretty accurate dyno. What do you guys think?

I think I'm ready to complete the Evosport package and add a 75 shot of juice. I think nitrous along with the pullies are the best mods for this car. Other mods seem to be more expensive and produce little, if any, results. I'm talking exhausts, headers, software, etc. Can I add a 75 shot of juice with the stock fuel system? That's what I'm wondering...

And finally, the A/F ratio from that last (and best) pull:

Looks good Marc! Call me.

FYI: Marc's SLK32 currently has our ODPS on his car, but he has not yet completed the installation of the IC reservoir upgrade.

I tried calling a few minutes ago, but I guess I must have just missed you guys.

BTW, I also ran the car at a slow dragstrip last night with near 100% humidity. I did manage a 12.71 @ 109mph with a 1.8 60ft.

The car bone stock trapped at 108-109mph, but then after adding drag radials I was down to ~106 at the same exact track under similar conditions. Now with the pullies I've gained that 2-3mph back under much worse track conditions.

So I'm thinking my trap speeds were hurt by the drag radials. Whether it be from getting such good traction or from the difference in size (245/40/17 to 245/45/17). Could that 3-4% gear ratio change from the tire size have such an adverse effect on trap speeds (2-3mph)? Could it be more than just the effective gear change hurting me? Something with the car's torque management or some other computer related technology that's getting screwed up by the different tire size?

Any ideas?

Later,

Marc

Yeah, but that 1.8 60ft is with Nitto drag radials (245/45/17). My best 60ft on the stock Continentals was 2.0.

I'm going to try some 245/35/17 tires on "closeout" from the Tirerack to see what that does to my trap speed. If my thinking is correct, my trap speed should increase from 109 to ~112. Sounds far fetched, but nothing else changed on my car other than the small difference in tire size when I went from 109 traps to 106...

BTW, did I screw up by making the pulls in 3rd gear and not 4th? I think you want the gear that's closest to a 1:1 ratio. On the SLK32 AMG, 4th gear is exactly 1:1. Oops. So would my results be higher in 4th or 3rd?

Idealy, you want to use 4th gear for your dyno runs, but few dyno operators have the equipment necessary to obtain accurate 4th gear readings. Without heavy-duty fans, the car will quickly heatsoak, and have readings lower than real-life (street) experience. For this reason, we have chosen to post our dynos in 3rd gear, as most others will not be able to accurately do fouth. HOWEVER, using a 4th gear pull should yield about 10+hp more if done properly.

Hehe that's a very strong car you have there. It seems the C32 comming out lately are stronger than the first delivery C32 's.

Great #s! But quick Q. I can't see the last graph with A/F, what did your A/F range from above 3,000 rpms with the Pulleys?

Thanks!

Wow, talk about bringing a post back from the dead. LOL. I sold my SLK32 almost a year ago and haven't been to these forums since. I now have a 10 Second 911 Turbo and an 11 Second S4. Anyway, here's the dyno sheet showing the A/F curve (not sure why the original was removed from the thread):

P.S. You're lucky I was subscribed to this thread. :p

LOL. Thanks very much for taking the time to post. I just purchased a new C32, so I saw your post and was very curious about the A/F. Good luck with your 911 and S4!!
