Failed Fuel Pump - C32 AMG
So with my recent adventure into failed fuel pump I was able to source only the pump for $300 instead of the entire fuel tank for $2000. This website seems to carry many parts that can't be found new elsewhere. All components for the fuel tank including main pump, secondary surge filler, and sending unit. Main fuel pump for C32 AMG installed and verified to be correct. Hope this helps people in need, and smart enough to avoid buying the entire tank from Mercedes-benz.

Thanks for the advice. Congratulations on getting your car going again. Hopefully none of us will need this but it is great knowing alternative ways to fix things without paying thousands.

Aside from just agreeing that it cant be purchased separately can you provide some examples of what you are basing this off of? I showed the part availability in EPC with part numbers. It shows the tank doesn't even come with the fuel pumps which makes sense because this is how it always is.
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...bad-c32-2.html
read that he also says it is available separate and gave the same part#s that I provided in the EPC schematics.

MB only sells the complete tank with the pump assembly. Pump not available separately through MB.
It is not available for AMG models only. You have to buy a complete tank assembly to get it.
thanks :-)

Great job on getting a good price.
I had my fuel pump go a while ago and MB Australia wanted $5000 USD for just the fuel pump.. needless to say I got one in from the states for $1200

It's like how I found the same pump on Ebay for $1000? Asked the seller why it's so expensive being that I found the pump elsewhere for a lot cheaper. Honestly I could have not shared this and probably made a lot of money by selling it for $800 or so on Ebay. Put my pride, and helpfulness ahead of that though... I've been through so much with this car I can't help but want to share anything positive with others.
On a side note been looking into local 6.0 GTO's. Not sure why I'm so set on this vehicle, but I am. Found a heavily modified supercharged one for $19,000 but dealership says it can't really be a daily driver. Roll cage, fuel cell, and all. Too bad, because it was only 25k miles and 700+hp on the engine! Hoping to get at most 10k from the c32 as a trade in. That should put me in less than $200 monthly payments for a lower mileage GTO around $20k.

All these are just quotes that most likely were re-quoted. I gave you proof and examples and a thread where someone really did do the install which confirms otherwise. Calling myself would seem redundant. I am only trying to clear up which seems to be a lot of misinformation within this group. I am always skeptical no matter where the info came from an open to hearing all sides and is why I asked where and what you have to back the claims. I am only asking because it could have been true and would be good to know ...If not, some people like to keep it OEM especially when it comes to fuel delivery or engine components.

Sounds good, but I just read it said it was for a BMW which I know most of these German companies use the same vendors. The only issue is that OEM isn't always OEM which I am not saying is true in your case as I don't know much about that specific pump. A few examples being Man oil filters & Micron air files all sell after market OEM replacements, but they are not the exact fitment and cause issues in Mercedes. Even though they are the same company producing them MB has patents and contract with the vendors that they cannot sell them, so they change the design and sell them anyways. I also replaced my windshield washer pump with AN OEM same branded one and the water shot right over my car and to the person behind me. I also purchased aftermarket bosch ignition wires because the factory ones are about 4x the cost each, but I ended up having to replace two more (mb oem) and purchased the non-returnable ignition coils that I didn't need because they were faulty right out of the bag. I have had more trouble with non-oem and ended up spending more money to fix the issues in the end and that is why I am always hesitant to purchase important items aftermarket. Hopefully it works out for you chances are you wont have any issues and it was probably worth the savings for those who have gone this route.

PIERBURG - is an OEM.
7.28461.00 is just no longer produced.
My post is not just a quote, and I have it installed.
It works flawlessly both on idle and under the load. (tested with the pressure gauge)
Of course if someone follow the link in post #8 and buy that pump will find him self in trouble =)

If you guys don't mind, I would very much like to join this fun party celebrating failing fuel delivery.
Now that various shops have replaced my crank position sensor (twice), serviced my transmission and replaced a water pump, another shop has determined that the "real" problem is in the fuel delivery.
Latest shop says fuel pump and sending unit "must" be replaced together, $2k parts and $1k labor, for $3k fix!
For those of you who have managed to buy these parts separately (the fuel pump previously mentioned is tempting at about $250: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E39-525-...-/180672320335), my question is:
How did you figure out that it was the fuel pump vs. the sending unit vs. something else in fuel delivery? This latest shop says that all these parts are under the rear seat and very hard (i.e., expensive) to get to/inspect.
FYI, symptoms are power loss, jerking, failure to start, stalling and trouble going up hills.
I'm not handy - please don't bother suggesting any kind of DIY!

Fuelpump is quite easy to change and you can replace the old pump with Walbro(also quite easy mod). Walbro 255 pump cost about 100euro and few hours work. Pump unit is located passenger side.
And fuelrail has place to measure fuelpreassure.

Also problem can be fuelpreassure regulator mailfunction, fix=buy a new filter with regulator

Maybe these tips helps somebody.

My mechanic did mine for much less than that! Msg me if you want his name. I totally trust him and he does all my work.
Since I found that one of the pumps was the same as a volkswagon, he was able to source it for me for $65. The other one, I got lucky and bought one from a forum member.
Still, I'm sure that if you source the parts yourself you could have it fixed for maybe $600-$700?

YOU MUST REPLACED THE ENTIRE TANK! OTHERWISE PAY TO PUT THE PUMPS IN AND ENJOY THE CEL's, you cannot even source parts through an MB dealer withouth buying the tank. I have had many customers who ended up paying twice as much by trying to go the cheap route the first time and in the end they always buy the tank.
