Hey,

I'm not sure when my spark plugs were changed last.

My car is standard apart from k&n elements (for now)

I've seen magnecor 7 or 8mm wires on eBay are these worth getting?

Also there are loads of spark plugs to choose from but which ones do these cars like the best? Denso iridiums?

Or should I just get new plugs n wires from Mercedes?

Cheers

How many miles have you got? I ordered NGK standard iridiums from needswings and have magnecors to try. There is a long thread about plugs and wires on the forum.

don't get the NGK standard plugs they will only last you half the time as the laser iridium plugs and cost you more in the long run anyway. I had taken for granted that my original plugs had been changed but at 165xxx Mikes they were still originals. I swapped them out with new NGK laser iridium after talking with rob at Needswings and there is no noticeable difference in mpg of performance. This speaks highly of the laser iridi plugs IMO. So I recommend spending the extra $50 on the iridium. I have plenty of performance upgrades but still stuck with the stock wires. The magnacors just don't have the heat resistance like the sockets do to resist the hot under hood temps.

So plugs and wires don't increase performance? My plugs and wires are merc original so far so good.
I was thinking of upgrading.? Not sure now

I hadn't even noticed them. The stock ones are supposed to last 100,000 km according to MB maintenance schedule. I will probably replace them well before that. I might get the lasers at that point.

Plugs and wires wear and degrade performance. In all cases new ones should improve the lost performance.

I'm not saying plugs and wires can't upgrade performance but I think that AMG almost maxed out the potential in our cars regarding the ignition aspect. 165k miles and not a noticeable difference in performance is what I was meaning... wires can probably use a upgrade but its negligible.

I went with NGK IX Iridium. They are rating for 100k miles just as the stock NGK plugs. Also 8.5 Mags for the wires. Noticed a HUGE difference but who knows maybe it's because I did 185MM and Stage 2 EC tune at same time, LOL...

Recently got Behr leads and NGK laser plugs, the car is smoother than before (perhaps it a placebo effect). No other performance difference that I can tell. Wheels still spin...gives me a grin...

I upgraded pulgs and wires at 100k miles. I think I was developing an issue with my oem plugs and wires, but once I installed new ones, everything felt smooth. Not sure if I saw a performance difference, but everything seemed smooth again.
