C32 Intake Baffle - Worth Removing Or Leave it Alone?

C32 is it worth removing the intake baffle?

ive read that you can cut away the centre section of the baffle and refit all the pipes back together perfectly.

is this worth doing?

im all for a little more noise....

but im not for any loss of power or other issues.

If you are messing with the intake and want OEM look, just get the 55K airboxes with these kevlar intakes.

Ok i will need to buy all the parts from my local benz dealer though.

1. Y piece
2. both air boxes
3. both inlet pipes
4. k&n filters

is this correct?

It's not worth you time to remove the baffles I did it to mine a while back and noticed very, very little if any increase in s/c noise and power seemed to stay the same. If you want noise and maybe a little extra power try to find a code3 intake they're hard to find since they are no longer in bussines, but they're might be one floating around. I made one for around $30 here's a picture, this will definately give you s/c noise.

All that will be so minimal in helping, the bottleneck will still be the airboxes and Y pipe which are the most expensive parts.

Best bang for the buck and will actually give you a decent gain will be the Code3 style intake.

I do, but it's more expensive. I'd say the best value for the $$ is the code3 style. And although the SL55 intake flows more, the Code3 was much more responsive.

From what I have seen the y-pipe is the thing to replace. My guess is that is where the majority of the benefit comes from. If you want an easy, good value upgrade replace this with the SL one.

don't expect to see much of a gain with just a larger y-pipe. you need the boxes sl55 boxes too or you still have a bottle neck in air flow before the y-pipe
