Wheel Confirmation

Okay,

So my car has two bent front wheels from wear and tear as well as one bent rear wheel. (19" + Pot Holes)

I would like to replace all 4 wheels on my 2005 C55 AMG.
The current wheels are 19" TSW Bremma's, chromed, 8.5" wide in the front, 9.5" wide in the rear.

I believe the stock offset for the C55 AMG is the following as per all the threads I read:
Front: ET30
Rear: ET34

The new wheel set needs to be 8.5" wide in the front, and 9.5" wide in the rear, but I am still trying to decide if I want to keep the current 19" diameter of drop down to 18" for increased comfort.

From what I can tell, if I want to avoid the use of spacers, I need to either find a set with ET30 or ET32 for the front and ET35 for the rear.

I do need to replace the brake rotors and pads soon, I plan to upgrade to the larger diameter CLK63 AMG brake set for the front and rear. (Bolt on, with the exception for the need to trim the dust shield for the rear brakes... I think.) So I must make sure I choose a set with the needed clearance.

Here are two sets I saw from eBay.

1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/19-GUNMETAL-...item41683420e6

ET 30 FRONT
ET 35 REAR

2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/19-GUNMETAL-...item3f13a177f0

ET 32 FRONT
ET 35 REAR

From what I gather from older posts and the W203 Wheel Fitment Thread, the two sets I posted above should be fine for mt 2005 C55 AMG. Any flaws in the plan?

As far as I am aware ET35 in the front WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT SPACERS.

Thank You!

It really depends of the shape of the wheel spokes...

on the front of my C32 i have a et35 8.5 and it just clears the brake caliper by about 1-2mm

Wow thats a tight fit!

I would go for 18" personally since the added comfort and reliability is worth it. They will still look awsome. This is why I have resisted the temptation to upgrade, everything is negative except the aesthetics.

Yeah id deff go for 18's

this style of wheel looks really big in 18 anyway due to its design.

i have 8.5 x 18 all round with 255/225 and 12mm spacer at rear

I love the look of those wheels you posted. 1-2mm clearance?! Wow! As long as it works...

Did you buy your wheels from eBay or another source?

Thank You

I personally like both of those styles Raul. I've thought about changing out my wheels but there's something I like about the stockness. Funny I say that because I actually have chromed W209 wheels. I think the previous owner wanted a chrome exhange from the dealership and didn't realize that the W209 actually has 37F and 30R. My rear looks great but the front sure do look pushed in. Your biggest issue is going to be to make sure that the calipers don't rub. And if you plan on upgrade to the 6/4 (which I love by the way, but suuuuure is hard to find and is very expensive) then you're going to be very careful with your wheel choice. I think the factory 18's and the factory W209 63's fit with no issues.

Good luck man, we need to talk whenever you head back to GA.

Hello there Viper... by the way... VIPER GTS?! Do tell more! Share a picture!

Yeah I did the usual forum searching, I have no idea why, but I feel like a complete retard whenever I do any parts or accessory research on this C55. Finding the part number for the front bumper cover or the mesh grills or even those elusive rear window clip on mesh shades is like a 5 day pilgrimage for me. It took me two days to locate the MBUSA accessories catalog for the W203 so I could find the part number for the fitted front windshield sun shade, and the rear mesh shades for the rear windows.

My car is at 91,000 miles. The bottom of the front bumper cover is beat to hell with scratches and cracks, the front surfaces of the bumper cover are covered in road rash, as is the front of the hood, the grill is cracked. I want to basically refurbish the whole front end of the car.

I called my local dealership and got quoted for the following:
1. Front Bumper Cover, unpainted: $1377 + Tax
2. Upper Grill: $530 + Tax
3. Lower Grill: $575 + Tax
4. Grill Spacer(?): $57 + Tax

Total without paint: $2539
It is really possible for that little plastic chrome strip, that attaches to the hood, to cost $530?!

I think I just need to find a good body shop in the DFW area and just get them to take care of the whole thing for me. I was hoping to order what I need, get the parts painted, and install it all myself, but at this point, maybe I should just get a good shop to do it all for me. I would have to get a shop to repaint the front of the hood anyways.

So much that I would like to get done for this car, but I am so drained every single work week, that I just get by with oil changes and a car wash every 2-3 weeks at this point.

At least my W124 is easy to find stuff for. Just $50 and a trip to the junk yard can get you far with that car!

Alrighty,

I have narrowed it down to these two:

1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-GUNMETAL-...9c0208&vxp=mtr

ET32 FRONT, 18" X 8.5"
ET35 REAR, 18" X 9.5"

2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-GUNMETAL-...e3b9b2&vxp=mtr

ET32 FRONT, 18" X 8.5"
ET35 REAR, 18" X 9.5"

3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-GRAY-SPOR...fec61e&vxp=mtr

ET35 FRONT, 18" X 8.5"
ET35 REAR, 18" X 9.5"
Even though this set has an ET35 in the front, it has a very flat face spoke design, so it should clear with more ease even than varoom's set, but damn is that set of wheels sexy on that car, varoom!
