Possible to buy headlight lenses?

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy just the headlight lenses for the Xenon units? My headights were from a wrecked car and I repaired the tabs and they've held for over 2 years but I guess the car had miles on it because the lenses look pretty rough. I'd like to replace them if I could rather than buy another set of headlights.

I was told the lenses have a clear coat, and if you want it to look new again you have to have a body shop sand them down and apply another clear coat to look new

Polycarbonated plastic used for the headlights are porous and UV ray from the sun will damage the top layer. Thats why they yellow and get foggy.

There is no clear coat and no not apply clear coat on them.

91rs, if you lights are dull and foggy what you can do is buy the 3M head light restore kit and follow the instructions. Sand off the foggy layer, buff it with the pads they give you and then seal it with their or some other brands polymer solution. I do this to my sister's clk since her car has always been parked outside since new.

I tried one of those kits on my headlights and it did not help that much.

The guy who is doing my bumper said that he would have to sand it and apply something in order to make it look like new.

I think when I said "Clear Coat" that was the wrong term to use. lol

I believe he will use some sort of polymer but he has done this for various bmw's/mercedes.

When I get the car back next week I will post some before and after pictures

You need to sand it with 1500, 2000, and then 3000 grit for the best result. You need to make sure you completely sand off the yellowing beofee you start buffing.

They're not really dull or foggy, they just have a bunch of rock chips and I think one of them has some stress cracks in one spot.

Pitting of the cover theres nothing you can do.

You can replace the lens cover, but that requires a donor set of lights. You might be able to check with original manufacturer of the light to see if they can sell you just the cover. I know mb only has the entire unit.

That's what I figured. I thought I remembered seeing someone in the classifieds section a long time ago selling lenses and he never responded to me. Maybe I'll look into getting the facelift CLK headlights. There are tons of them on eBay with broken tabs but none of the sellers appear to have the tabs where I can epoxy them back on. I know MB sells a "repair kit" but I can't find any info on that and I can't get EPC to load on my computer for some reason any more.
