New 1/4 mile pb, but questions...
Got some Hoosiers and light 16's for MIR next week. Went to Mason-Dixon dragway to get the feel for them because I've never tried them before (only my second time at a dragstrip lol). Best last time was 12.796 @ 109.89 with a 1.977 60'. With the dr's today I ran a 12.792 @ 112.07 and a 1.947 60'. A little dissapointed that I didn't improve my 60', but wtf is up with the 112 trap speed?!? It was consistant too, out of the 6 runs, 4 were over 111...I guess I need to work on my launch lol.
That being said, any of my fellow W203 AMG'ers care to share your launch techniques?
I'll post the slip as soon as I get home

What was your tire pressure set at? Did you check them after runs to adjust if needed? Did you ease the throttle in 1st? I think the C55 shifts faster in S mode rather than M mode. Did you put the car in dyno mode or just keep esp off?

Mods listed in my sig, guess they didn't show up because I edited to add the slip. Tires are Hoosier DOT drag radials, 225/50-16's on Sparco Assetto Gara wheels. Started off at 22 psi, but I did try dropping to 20 with no gains so I went back up to 22. I ran in S mode w/ ESP off.
Unfortunately, I got there later than I wanted so I only got 6 runs in, but hopefully I'll have more time at MIR to get a better feel for how to launch and the right burnout/pressure for the Hoosiers. Hopefully the cams, crank pulley and new intake will give me more torque down low in addition to peak gains...but it doesn't look like Eurocharged is coming to do any tunes beforehand. I should be installing everything starting on Tuesday, I'll make sure to keep you all updated.

Definitely should be getting a better 60 foot with drag radials than a 1.9.. You should be in the 1.7 territory I would think. Make sure you really heat those tires up before you go to the line.

Dre, I am sure you made this post to rub it in about your trap speeds. haha.
112mph, I can only wish for that. If your catless x, and custom retune have given you 5-7mph more than me. Sign me up! Did you weigh your car?
On my 12.9 run, my trap was 105.xx, my highest traps that day were 107.xx, highest trap ever was my previous best before renntech airbox/ eurocharged tune. 108.xx
Interesting thing to note, is before my airbox/tune, I have trapped over 85mph in the 1/8th. Last time out my 12.9 run was 82.xx, and 84.6x on other runs. Were all your 1/8th speeds the same? Would really love to get my mph above 110mph.
You should definitely be able to do better on your 60'. I cut a 1.944, on my 12.9 run. But I am on stock size all seasons and did not touch air pressure 33psi. With the same launch technique I use on my CLK55, first try in my friend's C55 on stock 245 conti's I was able to cut a 1.97. If I had more time I am certain I would have shaved some time off that 60' in his C55. I launch these AMG's much like I use to launch my lightning. They make so much torque down low, it is not necessary to stall on the launch. (At least on street tires) Dig into it hardish, going harder if able, backing out if needed, then mash it. Been yielding 1.9 60's pretty consistently that way. I still think I can cut lower on these all seasons if I start playing with air pressure. We will see next season, tracks are now closed.
Using a similar method, a guy I went to the track with his C63 cut his 60' from 1.9x to 1.7x.
Since you are on drag radials, make sure you heat them up well. May want to get a line lock installed. Good luck!

What baffles me is that last year I couldn't brake torque above 1200ish. Any higher resulted in wheel spin through 1st and 2nd. Ergo, my assumption was that I needed DR's. The only run that was better this time(by a measly .004 seconds lol) was my second run, with just a short burnout. The last 4 runs all had longer burnouts (1st run forgot to turn off ESP

I averaged 3 timeslips I found from last year and compared to the 6 I have from Saturday. My average speed at the 1/8 and 1/4 last year was 85.36/109.58, Saturday was 84.55/110.93. So I'm slower now at the 1/8, but faster at the 1/4??? My average gain in speed from 1/8 to 1/4 last year was +23.986 and now is +26.376, an improvement of +2.39mph

I wanted to get a weight but the weigh station was closed. I'm sure I can get one next Saturday though.
Here's a vid of my 3rd run, a 12.871 @ 111.79. I beat the Bobcat by a mile

What was the wind and d/a conditions on your runs?
I just averaged my best 3 at both outings.
Before Airbox, and Tune (DA +1100, headwind/crosswind 10mph+)
Avg 1/8th - 83.26
Avg 1/4 - 107.7
Diff - 24.44
With Airbox, and Tune (DA hovering below 0, No Wind)
Avg 1/8th - 83.21
Avg 1/4 - 106.03
Diff - 22.82
As you can see I am down across the board. And from the 1/8th to 1/4 im down 1.62mph in better conditions.

I did hear though that there is gearing differences between the C55 and CLK55 though.
More food for thought, is I have no trouble walking my friend's C55( I ran 13.1@106.x int it) from a roll on the street.
I will add an x-pipe and a retune on the dyno, then just wait for spring.
