C55 value

I think you guys will find this amusing. I saw that my local CarMax had a 2011 C63. I am not in the market for a used car, well at least not until I drove the beast. Anyway, the C63 is just awesome and my God what a sound. Just out of curiosity I had them give me a trade in value for my 05 C55 with 84K miles. The car is in pristine condition and religiously maintained. They cameback with, you will not believe it, $8,000. He told me that there is very little market for these type of cars. Do these cars really depreciate this fast? What could I get at a private sale? I am thinking that miles is the real issue.

its cuz carmax doesn't get the client base to handle that sort of vehicle, they'd love to have it because they would over double they're profit margin on it, but with all said an done, you are better off private selling it...

Carmax are the worst when it comes to trade-in values.

Sell the C55 privately and get almost double what Carmax offered.

They're trying to break one off in you! They'd probably ask $18k for it!

lol. Did you tell him that the market for "these cars" means the 63 should be dirt cheap too then?

I deal with carmax at my job they seem to do a lot of work on the cars before they sell them. I think they are pretty legit (from a purchasing perspective) since most car dealers don't spend squat on cars they are buying/selling. So maybe they spend a lot of fixing the cars as well and they are surely trying to retain a large profit margin.

I'm not saying they sell bad cars, but for them to make an insulting offer on his car and rationalize it by saying these cars have a limited market when they were probably asking full retail for the C63 is BS.

Ask them to go **** themselves and see if you can trade in at an MB dealer for another C63. They are out there. Trade-in values for C55 should be about $14-15k. To offer half that is just another way of saying they don't think you are capable of buying the C63 and want you to go away.

I've driven the C63.. and yes it is badass.. but so is the C55... "these" cars are awesome and have a market. That being said our C55 has depreciated ALOT... and I can't figure out for the life of me why the 63 series car's have not. Both cars are stupid fast and have the same creature comforts. Personally I think the C55 interior is better than the C63.

If you're going to get one don't accept anything less than 16k for your car. Personally I think even with more thank 90k on the odometer we should all be getting 20k+ for our cars. I think KBB is smoking crack.

The C63 will depreciate a lot once the next model C class AMG comes out. Our cars are of more value to keep then what the market will pay.

The C55 is a very cool car indeed. I've had mine for a few years now and I never get tired of driving it. I don't know if the C55 will ever be a car that "collectors" are looking for but, the C55 will always put a smile on your face when you drive it. Don't give it away. Everything is for sale but for sale at the right price!

C55 AMG T with Kleemann K2 and some stuff: 414 hp and 562 Nm :-)
I´ve had my C55 for soon 8 years now. Kleemann stage 2. Concidered a C 63
for some years but I´ve found it very difficult to let go of this amazing car!
300 km/h, 0 - 100 in less than 5 seconds...
Some day it´ll have to go, but not quite yet!!

Where are you located? I am in the market for a c55 and Id pay you more than that.

Been looking for one for a while and they do not sell fast thats for sure.

On average they sit on the market for about a month if not longer.

Please let me know. I am looking for a right one.

As I smartassedly alluded to before, this thread is now 4 years, 1 month and 4 days old. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say his car is not for sale any longer.

If it weren't for that sweet C55 Estate posted today, this would've all been for naught.
