'03 C32 AMG - new owner
Hi,
I am a new owner of a 2003 C32 AMG, with about 70K miles on the clock. The car has been well maintained and garage kept, and is in pretty damn good shape.
I have a possible issue with the vehicle, and I was wondering if I could get some assistance.
When I first crank the vehicle, the fuel economy is TERRIBLE! I have seen it as low as 1.5mpg and averages about 12mpg when fully warmed up and driving like a grandma... Put my foot down and oh man... the gas gauge hits zero faster than I can hit 155mph... (not literally but you know what I mean)
The on-board diagnosis says ridiculous like 40 litres per 100km when I first start the vehicle.
Where should I start with increasing the fuel economy? Is it due for a spark plug change? What about the fuel filter?
I purchased the vehicle from a dealership and it has a one year warranty on most major components including the supercharger.
I am aware of the intercooler pump failure on this vehicle, and was wondering if there was a way to check proper operation of the intercooler pump as I may as well have that inspected and dealt with while the vehicle is under a warranty.
I appreciate your help, the vehicle is much faster and more responsive... and the handling is amazing compared to my old E class that I traded.
Thanks for your help fellow MBWorld users & 32AMG drivers.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
How can mpg be good, if you aren't moving. Notice the period and not a question mark. 349 goes a long way, but not in terms of fuel economy.
And the rest, searching the forum also goes a long way.

hi pointman,
I have spent many hours researching the benzworld.org and mbworld.org forums regarding the C32 AMG.. Please don't regard me as a "noob" who is just asking for help blindly.
I am just wondering where is the best place to start in helping to improve the fuel economy.
I am aware that 349 horsepower is a little heavier on gas than a standard 3.2 V6 engine, but I am convinced there is an issue here because I have seen videos of C32's at full RPM using 18L/100KM and I am using 19-26L/100KM just driving 60km/h around town... and in the high 20's low 30's at high RPM. It's basically dumping fuel.
Thanks..

COMAND giving fuel readings is news to me.
