Another IC pump question

I have the usual problem of losing power when the car heats up (again). 2004 C32. I put a Johnson pump in there a while back, and the problem came back shortly afterwards. I took it to MB and they told me the pump isn't turning on when it should. Rather than pay them $1075 for the repair, I bought a Needswings pump and put it in. Rev up to 2500 RPM, pump kicks on - yay! Next day, tested again, pump kicks on. I took it for a drive and cruised about 75 on the highway. After about 6 miles, bang - lost power again. Took it home, and now the pump won't come on. I tested the pump today with 12vDC and it works, but no power through the connector at 2500 RPM. I checked EVERY fuse in the rear (including #18 because I have no #5 or relay C), EVERY fuse in the driver's side, and every fuse I could get to under the hood (including #51 that seems to be popular with the 2004s). They all zero-out just fine.

My thoughts are there's a relay somewhere that needs to be changed, but since there's no relay C in my 2004, what relay is for the IC pump circuit? The schematics lead me to believe it's relay P in the front (for circuit # 15), but I'm hoping someone knows for sure.

Anyone?

When I had my c32 and slk32, I rememeber I had an issue with the fuse. I dont remember what fuse # it is for the IC pump, but mercedes issued some sort of bulletin to use a higer amp fuse. Not sure if that helps

But with my slk32 my intercooler pump was fine and learned I had no fuse. Then the fuse the manual indicated worked but would blow after some time. Eventually found online about that bulletin.

Thanks for the reply. I found a whole bunch of info searching the forum, and tried it all. 2004 cars apparently use fuse 18, and maybe fuse 51, but both of those look fine.

The frustrating part is that MB tells me that the pump wasn't turning on, so I put a new one in and it turns on fine for a day. I didn't change any fuses, just the pump, and the problem came back. I wonder if there's a relay that was heating up somewhere and finally blew. I just don't know which one.

Does anyone have a wiring schematic for the charge air cooler circuit for a 2004 C32?

did you put new fuses ( replace them) with same amp ones?

Also what I meant with my post was : lets just say fuse 18 is a 7.5amp fuse but mercedes had a bulletin to use 15amp instead.

Something like that happened for the fuse for the IC pump

Also if you find someone with a star computer that may help. Also was your supercharger pulley replaced? It has an electric clutch in it I believe and I have heard of those going bad.

I'm having same issues with my '03 C32. The pump would intermittently stop working and I would get "ESP Visit Workshop Error". Went ahead and replaced the IC pump with a brand new unit and now pump does not run at all. I checked the #5 fuse looks good and have replaced C relay in rear SAM, still no go. Next I'll try to jump the pump to check if pump itself is bad, but since its brand new I doubt that would be the case.

Any other troubleshooting pointers would be greatly appreciated.

A new update, the pump is working fine and is so quiet that I couldn't hear or even feel it running. I had to run the car, unplug and replug the pump (with engine running) to feel the difference.

Now on to rest of troubleshooting, I refuse to accept steelership's diagnosis (P207C code) that the SC is bad and needs to be replaced. I would only change SC if I know what component is bad and can't be fixed or replaced, hence need for a new unit.

Mine went bad. You'd know it if it went bad. The armatures will turn into a circular saw under the hood and you can clearly see that the pulley and fieldcoil were not properly aligned. Plus, it was difficult to turn by hand no freewheeling. Maybe it's a bad fieldcoil. That'd keep the armatures from engaging. Now what effect that plays with the pump, you got me??

The supercharger does engage fine on 1st start in the morning when engine is cold. When the engine temperature gets over 60, SC stops engaging. Thats why I was troubleshooting the IC pump for issues. But now since the pump checks out fine, either it needs a good bleed (I don't know how to bleed the pump circuit) or there are other issues.
