C55 Alignment Issue Please HELP

Hey Everyone!

Well Unfortunately I am now having an alignment problem with my 05 C55.

Does anyone know the alignment specs for a stock C55?

Its almost like at high speeds or under heavy load/acceleration My car drives like a snake or "S" shape.

I got an alignment a week ago and had to replace the tie rods since one was frozen in place.

For some reason I think the alignment guy didnt align the rear and only the front. Hence I am asking for the alignment specs.

Here is what my car is currently at:

Front Left: Front Right:
-1.7 Camber -1.3 camber
0.06 toe 0.06 toe

Rear Left: Rear Right:
-2.2 camber -1.3 camber
0.14 toe 0.31 toe

Any opinions?

Mine gets a little "happy" with acceleration... find another guy.. the first one couldn't get my rear end right either. (insert joke here, or preferably not)

Honestly I like the feeling of awesome power with a little bit of "steering correction"... reminds me of driving me FD3S.

Yeah I looked... can't find my original numbers.

Can someone else chime in here. I always "suspected" the previous owner bent a control arm or something. Specifically the right rear as well.

I also assumed that the guy I took it too just couldn't figure out how to align it correctly.

But to be honest its not that big of a deal since I don't have that much of a pull and I assumed it was because most roads are crowned.

This thread is funny because I always think I have an alignment issue too! And for the life of me cannot figure it out. Now I'm suspicious of a bent wheel. I have some vibration at 40... But no other speeds.... Either way this car is not as stable as other MB's I've owned

Im not sure if I can make it to him after work one of these days, I do know he is very good and very busy.

Anyone ever replace rack and pinion mounts or subframe bushings?

It almost feels like under load one end in the rear is higher off the ground

Just go to the dealer. We charge $150 for alignment at ours. Mercedes uses special wheel adapters that fit into the 5 holes in the rims. But a rim bent or tire out of round can cause problems with alignments also. Mercedes also uses ride height data to compensate camber during the alignment. If you have an alignment done at the dealer and its still out post up the print out. I can help you go from there.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
The dealers near me are nowhere near $150.

Is your car on stock suspension, or is it lowered? I would say you've got a problem with the camber on the left side for sure. Its pretty negative all the way around though, that will wear the inside of your tires out. The front has a little adjustment with the fluted bolts. If I remember correctly, the camber spec on the negative side is -1.3* so the left is out of spec and the right side is right there. There isn't any camber adjustment in the rear, so you might have something bent or worn out. What are your caster measurements? That can cause a pull. My caster was close to even and the car always pulled right, and I finally put about 1* of split, with the left side being lower, to correct the pull (for the most part, it's at least very tolerable now). This is my car after slight lowering (less than 1"). I had to use 3 of the fluted bolts to get the front the way it is.

My car is stock suspension. I had a tech I know from a MB dealer check out the car. After inspecting my car and driving it he believes that it is a combination of my tires/ not having the stock wheels. On the hunt for some stock c55 wheels I can afford at the moment now

How come it seems like all of the alignments you guys are talking about, the tech doesn't adjust rear toe? You want the Thrush angle to be zero to then have proper front toe

You are running way too much rear toe, it will kill your tires in less than 5K. Way too much camber on one side, you have an issue with a bad joint or something is out of whack that the car leans heavy to one side.

My issue is from when you accelerate from rolling to accelerating under heavy load the car moves direction. Its difficult for me to explain by text on here.

It is an issue when between throttle and off throttle. It feels like when I had my M3, and the trailing arm bushings were bad ( the bushings that held the rear wheels to the chassis of the car to make them stay in one position )

I looked over my car and noticed my front left strut mount is not in the correct position.

Maybe that has a lot to do with it if it is bad

Which mount? The upper strut mount or the torque strut arm? A picture would be nice of how it is installed incorrectly
