C55 Carbon Fiber intake Snorkel.. Feeler

Hey everyone,

I have been on here lurking for a few months and like everyone else noticed there are not many intake options for our cars. minus renntech, e55, Needswings, or clk500 snorkels

I have recently undertook the project of building carbon fiber intake snorkels for my car( will keep updating this as i progress with the development)

Just wondering if and when this is complete if any of you guys would be interested in these snorkels as well.

This is the basic idea but of course to meet our c55 application

Hell yeah, as long as it flows as much if not more than the upsized CLK kevlar tubes! As much as I love the increase in performance of the NW dcai, the exposed crap (secondary air injection pump, etc., leaves much to be desired. I'm probably going to do a custom engine cover... any extra eye candy, as long as ther is no degradation in performance, will be welcome! Keep us updated!

Do you think it would work on a c32 amg as part of a custom intake?

what kind of gains do they gain? more or smoother air flow versus the original ones?

15 whp since it's made of CF.

I don't expect any gains, may be a tad due to keeping the air somewhat cooler--I'm doubtful though. I'm only interested since the CF snorkle will match my RennTech CF airbox.

Dont expect to have any real power gains, if there are any i would be hyped. More of a cosmestic item, and if your stock snorkels are like mine they are cracked and looked like crap.

Progress has slowed down a bit but will keep everyone updated
First batch is based to replace just the first piece leading to the intake itself

After i perfect that i plan on making another batch to replace the inlet part as well.

What do you think you're going to price them at? If you want to take it to PM or email we can, don't want the forum gods to get upset like on the 211 forums...

Prices will depend on a few trial runs, and what price I can get the carbon for. my initial calculations( in the $300- $600 range ) yes thats a vague range but like i said there are plenty of factors here

I dont plan on making a living from this, but i would love to produce a product that I am proud to put my name on, and that you all will be proud to have on your cars

One big bug with just changing the tubes.
In std aircleaner the filters still occupies space for airflow,, look at the inletholes where you mount the tubes.. you will understand.

Precisely, they don’t like members without vendor accounts to sell mass quantities of items…
