Supercharger pulley vs crank pulley (no tune)
First off I would like to say I have searched and searched and read and read some more on these damn pulleys, but I cant help but get confused ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
so basically what I would like to know is what is the better route to take on boost upgrades without an ecu tune. Perhaps maybe just an ecu tune only?
I always thought that just a sc pulley upgrade would be best, but what size? I am looking to stay simple bolt on DIY.
please share your experiences with the pulley upgrades and what setup you had and maybe what you wish you had done.
Thanks guys
Ev

A crank pulley Overdrives your other pulleys and is much harder to install/remove.

There are lots of combinations but if you want to keep things simple and DYI, get a 65mm or 62mm SC pulley. You must get a tune. Also if you are in a worm climate, get cooling mods (highly recommended). All of it (with the exception of a tune) is a DYI and is available from Eurocharged.com. There are also other vendors as well as the used market. The only pulley that does not require a tune and cooling (but is still recommended) is the 178mm crank pulley.

It's equivalent to a 181mm crank pulley. And the 62/61mm SC pulley is equivalent to a 185mm pulley. There was a time when Evosport used to make a 168mm crank pulley but that is currently unavailable.

Another possibility is if you have access to a good machine shop, to machine the OEM SC pulley to around 66.5mm. You can get the OEM pulleys now for around $300 and this way you are keeping things conservative and should not need a tune.
