You might have actually lost some power..........you're pulling hot air in from the sealed engine compartment. You might want to check out some of the other threads on DIY open air intakes that make use of the stock grill location to pull air from through a less restrictive SL55 intake "Y".

lost power??

We'll see, but I don't think so, when your moving down the road the OEM ram air should still work or at least cool it off (remember its still there just like before), could also blank off some of it where it could only so much air could through it, could notch the water damn out a bit to get fresh air, if anything else running a vacuum cleaner flex hose (or something like that) to it would put fresher air around it, there's a lot of easy fixes, and I don't have all that big, ugly, cheap, aftermarket crap look under the hood!! the dyno really wouldn't prove anything cause the hood would be up,

i don't remember code3 put their car on the dyno. all that foam cover does is open up the flow which you can also do with the v8 y-split. the y-splitter probably works better as you are not sucking in hot air from near the firewall. the only thing that mod does better than the y-splitter and removing the intake baffle in the 32 airbox is it makes the supercharger sucking noise louder.

Brandon (Code 3) got about 6-10 on the dyno with his original Code 3 intake. I still run one and have had NO issues.

HUMM,, QUAD INTAKE!!!

So many possibilities with this set up! Couple of fittings and a bit of Hose and you have 2+2+1.25+1.25= 6.5 inches of QUAD-RAM AIR! And not to damaging to the looks under the hood,

Almost there

Just a bit more tweaking with the looks and it will be there...

Nope, can't see that adding any turbulence. Where is the before and after dyno or quarter mile times??
