Upgraded Mounts in the C32?

Has anybody looked into upgraded mounts for the C32? Had my replaced transmission mount go kapoot again, too much torque for the stock mount to handle!

Do the higher up AMGs run the same type of mount, ie E55? Just food for thought...

Well, that got shot down pretty quick.

Did a part search on the 03 S55, 06 S65, and 03 C32 on autohausaz.com and all the part numbers were the same for the transmission mount.

Oh well. Maybe worth a try to fill in the gap with polyurethane or something...

Check on the crossfireforum.org. I remember some people were modifying the OEM mounts by filling then in with some other substance.

Polyurethane.

From what I read, it didn't work as planned in the motor mounts, and I didn't read anything about it being in the transmission mount.

Interestingly though, tying down the motor mounts to the chassis seems to be the hot ticket!

Everything all cleaned up:

80a polyurethane filled, now curing for a couple days, and will be 100% after 7 days:

The polyurethane takes 2 days to 80-90% cure, and 7 days to 100% cure; I've had the mount in the car for about a week now.

I can now feel what the transmission is doing, as well as some vibrations coming through, but nothing too bad. It also lets some of the vibration noise come through sometimes, say, around 2k rpm when the torque converter is locking up, it gets a little noisier.

The steering wheel is no longer shaking itself to death while sitting idle in drive at a stop, which is gusta. And the car feels more responsive due to taking some slack out of the drivetrain. A little faster? Possibly, my butt dyno would like to think so!

This 80a polyurethane is supposed to be the middle of the road between street and race, and I think it edges more towards the race spec. I've had another car with polyurethane throughout the chassis so it's not bad to me, but I cannot guarantee others would like it.

Interesting mods.

Links on tying down the engine mounts to the chassis and for the DIY poly kit?

At this time I left the motor mounts as is (they weren't leaking, and they were replaced <5k miles ago. also didn't do a tie down at this time), and just cleaned and filled the transmission mount as above. This is the polyurethane 80a I used: http://www.mcmaster.com/#8644k11/=ovv0ie

As far as the motor mounts being polyurethane filled, it's all over the place. Some say it worked, others not so much.

But the consensus is that a cable tie down is the way to go, limiting the amount of movement the motor can do before breaking the engine mounts:

As far as a DIY on that, I can't find anything.

Thanks for the links. My car's only got about 112,000 km, but I recently picked up new mounts just to help keep things fresh.
