The car has been doing something strange, it doesn't rev right through. If I put my foot flat it gives power and half way through the revs it "dies" then you must remove your foot then put it down again. Do you know what this could be? With my limited mechanical knowledge id suspect clogged fuel filter, dirty injectors, dirty TB but thank goodness I have you guys that will give me the answer to the problem
And to top it off, I ran into an old friend today that wanted to race me with his stage 2 blah blah blah audi tt and I didn't have the confidence to do so and on my way home 'diagnosing' the car, the police pulled me over (when they caught me eventually) and asked me why I was driving like a maniac. lol They don't understand how an AMG driver feels turning down a race to an audi

lol cool story man... made me giggle - yeah it could be any of what you think plus maybe spark plugs? WHen's the last time you changed those? Was there any error codes popping up? Was your traction control on ... wheels slipping and cutting power?
Dealer said the plugs still looked good about 4 weeks ago. But you never know. It does it with traction control on or off even when its in park and I rev it. Have not checked for codes yet though.
When moving or in park.

Shaun it could be a whole host of things... if you can you should try to see if there are any codes stored that could point you into the right direction. It sounds like it could be engine knock that pulls timing at higher rpm or it could be as simple as a clogged fuel filter / injectors etc... really no way of knowing. Can you do data logs by any chance? Where you can see your fuel curves, air fuel ratios, degrees of timing etc.?
I've read on the interwebs that most of the guys having this problem believed it to be the MAF sensor going bad or can't read above 3k rpm

Other than MAF, I do not know anything else that would cause those sort of symptoms.

I took the MAF off last night and cleaned the TB with a rag but it didn't look too dirty but there was a layer of sludge dirt in the snorkel which I cleaned with soap and water and I've left it out to dry today. Phoned around and we don't get MAF cleaner here by the looks of things so I phoned a tech friend and he said I must bring it to him, they clean them with carb cleaner, delicate process he sais though so I wont try it myself. I have pics but for the life of me I don't know why I cant upload pics

ExploreTry a new CPS? -seems to fix everything else. Good luck, I'm interested in your solution!
Well I googled how to upload pics and on MBWorld it showed me to use photo bucket

Have a look at the pics and tell me if that can cause these issues.
I know that CPS makes a huge difference, I had an E39 528i which was dead and when I replaced that it felt like an M5 compared to what it felt before but ill have the codes read before I do that.

Is the C 55 designed not to hit rev limiter when revving in park or neutral?

Another common problem is the pigtail connector at the throttle body. The wee little female ends that contact with the tb pins get loose and make partial contact then oxidize.
Symtoms for me were:
Hit gas pedal and car would not rev past 3k. Shutoff car then ok. Then next day would drive fine to stoplight then would not rev at all.
The repair is to solder heat shrink in new little female connectors in the pigtail. Got them from dealer.
Mas air meter and cps can do some of what you are describing as well.
Scan with star for quickest results.
