Depends on how good the deal is you can make. Also what color interior/exterior and overall condition of the car is?
Will it be a daily driver or a weekend car for you? Also something to consider with a soft-top.
The 63 AMG engine is an absolute monster, so it would definitely be and upgrade if you ask me.
So.. in the right color, good condition and the right price: Yes I would do it...

Watch out for bad headbolts in the early ones.

Am I the only one that wouldn't do it? I always thought the CLK was such a feminine car. Then add the convertible top ad it gets really bad. C63? I'd do it in a heartbeat, but not the CLK...FWIW

I would, price usually seems to be less than an 08 C63 and equal or lesser than an 07+ E63. Just depends on your situation, I have kids so E63 would be my choice

You're not the only one. I wouldn't do it either. Now, finding a dead CLK63 and swapping the engine and drivetrain over for a W203 C63 would be cool though.
Just a matter of personal preference though. I think the CLK is nice, just not my cup of tea. CLK63 Black Series though, that's cool.

I don't like convertibles but the hard top CLK63 is definitely the way to go, unfortunately they are everywhere except the US. The CLK63 is also still the "same" generation if you like. Sure it got the newer 63 engine (with headbolt issue) and 7 speed but everything else is still pretty much the same w209 from 2003 so unless you get a great deal I would personally wait to upgrade to something newer. I will be saving for a C or E63 in 2-4 years. Unfortunately no more CLK and no AMG E-class coupe.

A convertable are normally heavier than equivallent a coupé and the body is
flexing more with worse handling as a result. With a weak engine and slow
driving maybe it´s ok...

So what if I were to say that the purpose for the CLK63 Convertible would be to put on a Prior Design wide body kit, inspired by the Black Series? I would never say it's a Black because it isn't, but I think it would definitely be paying homage (in convertible form) to the Black.
Soon-to-be-classic 6.3 V8 AMG engine making 480hp/465tq in a small convertible, I think that deserves some respect in some circles?
(I don't know who owns this car or picture but I took it off google)

Sounds good, but I would prefer a coupe for sure over the convertible. And have to agree with other members, would prefer a C63 over the CLK63 any day, but then again you would be unique, but in the right way..? Im not really feeling it.
I would either go for a CLK63 coupe or a C63 and do these heavily planned mods you are intending, way sicker...

I say go for it. If the price is right and you dont need four doors, Its a lot cheaper/ less headache than trying to shove a m156 and 722.9 into your c55.
Plus theres nothing feminine about the look of a black series, even if its a convertible.

I think its badass as a 'vert, even without a Black Series. Not feminine at all - though I might not be the best one to ask after 6 years of NA Miata ownership.

lol easy might be the understatement of the year! that's gotta be a $20k project just for the engine and tranny installed

hmm more like a one of those non error cancelling LED's that never seems to work correctly...or better yet the LED turn signals that say they work only to find out that annoying knob things on the side are ever so slightly off from the slots they're supposed to go in so you never get them to work!
but yes I would love to put the 6.3 and the 722.9 in my c55...i just need to find a clk63 and total in with a crow bar! jk

I've wondered since the 209 is on the same platform, if the 209 63 drivetrain would line up in most places in the C55....

There's a CLK63 Conv for sale locally near me, but in the end it's probably not wise decision to get into another car (especially one that's so similar). The swap of the 63 engine and 7 speed and rear end would probably be awesome in the C55 though! Nearly 500 hp in our small four door cars, would be insane. Not worth the cost though....
