transmission won't shift...

So my car decides it doesn't want to shift sometimes and gets stuck in like 2 or 1st gear. The shifter bezel won't switch from whatever setting im in. I can make the paddle shifters shift the what number appears on the instrument panel but nothing actually happens.

Only way to fix is to shut the car off and back on and voila, all is fine. Done it twice now in the past week.

Haven't checked for codes yet, been too lazy and scared to find out! lol plus im about to leave for 10 days to go out on Detachment on the USS Ronald Reagan with a squadron

Check your TCU to make sure there isn't oil on it - I've read something about fluids leaking out onto the wire harness and traveling upstream to the TCU.

popped a P0715. Error in the speed sensor basically. Apparently one of my sensors in the tranny failed and started leaking fluid everywhere. So it was oil i was smelling but tranny fluid. Apparently I need a new conductor plate to be installed. I probably could've done it myself but I need the car next week and Didn't have time to order the part and look into doing the work. $1300 it's supposed to run.
