C55 AMG - normal transmission kickdown behavior?
Greetings,
When I accelerate hard enough from a 30+mph roll to get a transmission kickdown and then I step off the gas, the transmission holds the lower gear instead of upshifting. The revs stay high (4-5K) but throttle is off - this effect lasts at least 2-3 seconds. it's not slippage. I am using Sport mode. This behavior is true for all kickdowns to at least 75 mph. I have never experienced this in any other car. Thoughts? TCU reset?

Also, I've found the car will hold a lower gear in S after aggressive braking and cornering to facilitate good acceleration on exit.

The transmission sensors know what you're doing (hard braking, hard corners, hard acceleration) and holds gears longer on purpose in the AMG models.

EXACTLY! Used this for about 20 min today when I found a back road through the mountain pass from Thousand oaks to Pt. Mugu after lunch. It was sooooo much fun!

can I say it?: THANK GOD this car has an auto that comes to attention when you need it to. Aside from relatively slow shifting, I've found the C55 to be a pretty good performer for a mid-00's automatic sport sedan.
I find myself missing the manual gearbox in my Miata a lot lately tho- and the fact that it cost nothing to own/operate/etc.

Sport mode is fun, but I personally prefer the full manual mode. Not quite like the 6 spd manual C230 I had, but it's damn good for an automatic sports sedan!

This is one of the biggest bonuses to the 55 over the 32, I've found that the TCU settings in the 55 are better set for aggressive driving over that of the 32 which likes to shift to a higher gear not matter what the circumstances.
