Seems like mine is leaking. I tried the cheapest fix first by inverting the rubber seal but it's still leaking.
Anybody had this problem before?
Can you purchase just the rubber seal or would it be better to replace the whole cap itself?
If someone could also post the part nos. for the rubber seal and oil filler cap, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

I think mine leaks too. So I bought the seal only, and it still leaks. I wonder if it's just time for a new cap.

car is cheap. You can even get the amg one that they make that the other AMG cars have that the poor C didn't get.

i just serviced my car by taking all my valve covers off, putting new seals in and even the breather parts on top of the valve covers. After a 400 mile trip in 3 days my car started smelling bad at a stop and you can see oil fumes when the car was idling in my driveway in the dark with my headlights on...
Looking at it closer i saw that there was a huge amount of oil coming from the damn filler cap. I bent the metal clips into the cap with the hope that it would seal tighter for this trip. That did not work... there was oil all over the show around the cap, and on the other side it was dripping from the valve covers onto the exhaust manifold which creates those fumes at stops...
I thought i did a great job servicing it but obviously i didn't. I dont want to buy just another filler cap that is the same, as these seem to be pieces of ****. I was thinking of maybe buying a gasket and doubling up on the seal.
For some reason i think i put too much sealer on the breathers on top of the valve covers where maybe all this pressure builds up and pushes the cap up no matter what. Any advice on this, i really hate having oil over my engine and dripping in my garage and the oil vapor smell when idling.
The engine was so clean you can eat off of it and now its all ****ty again

ya that's the one i was referring to and what i am using now...it comes off much easier too (at least mine does) I can unscrew it with my hand. i dont recommend using a ratchet as you will tear that plast knob up quite easily as I did the first time and to be honest, hand tight is really as tight as it will go with the amg one that I got. I have no leaks from it and I have no idea about "seal" pressure. It's a cap and its made by mercedes. lol that's all i got

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll just get a new cap.
Any issues that could arise if that AMG cap has a different pressure spec than the stock one?
