C55 transmission update to 7G-Tronic?

C55 transmission update to 7G-Tronic?
Curious to know if anyone has done this. It would be a great update to have two more gears to save fuel and have better acceleration. If so, how about some details such as if torque converter and TCU and harness are needed also.

Anything is possible with enough money. I'm no expert, but I would imagine the easiest way to accomplish this would be to swap the engine / trans wiring harness from an 07 SLK55. And I. Sure some programming talent would still be necessary.

Toby , long time , hope u r doing well . Well my cousin had a CLK 500 2005 , it comes with 7G transmission , he swapped the W209 CLK55 engine into his car . Now the car running with CLK55 2005 Engine + CLK 500 2005 7G transmission .

Why not copy everything from 2005-2010 SLK55, while its sharing Engine/diff. ratio with C55,,
i think it needs 7G-Tronic & wire harness, with ECU/TCU swapped.....

it's been done, just gotta search it. I've read about it awhile back...i just remember a lot of hesitation due to a lot of issues witht he 722.9 transmission compared tot he 722.6.

7G-tronic transmission conversion....
Nice to hear from you again and your car really looks good now. Did you ever get those 6 pot front and 4 pot rear calipers you were looking for? The guy here really ticked me off as he would drag about what the price would be....probably holding out to get more for them. Typical salvage yard!
So your cousin swapped from a 5.0 motor to the 5.5L and all fit together OK? I just want to swap up the tranny as the engine is fine. One problem may occur is that the readout only goes to 5 (1-4,D) so what happens when there are 7 gears (1-6,D) or nothing at all?
I know that some cars in 2007 went to the AMG Speedshift MCT (multi clutch technology) and doesn't use a torque converter and has 4 drive modes: C, S, S+ and M. Looks like a problem to set up/tune.
This I don't desire to tangle with but just the earlier 7G only, far simpler and probably less costly!
The big difference is all have a 1:1 ratio in fifth and the extra two gears are .82:1 and .728:1which would be nice on interstates and autobahns! Less noise and better mileage would be nice with better acceleration. So has anyone there done this conversion you know of.....need advice.
