Need a second key for a 2002 C32, any one have experience?

I recently acquired a 2002 C32 for a family member andd it only had one key go figure.

Does anyone know the most cost effective way to go about ordering one?

I say this about 30 times a day.

Please come down to the dealer with license and registration the registration need to be current original copies and in your name. The key comes out of Texas and takes 1-2 business days. Once the key arrives you will need to bring the vehicle down to the dealership.

thank you, I guess what I was wondering is if you could buy any key that is the same vintage and it could be programmed to any car or if for security reasons the keys are a one time issue and once programmed they can't be deprogrammed or reprogrammed.

over the years so many cars have been traded among the family members and I have a couple extra keys that did not make their way to the dealer at the time of trade. I am assuming that those keys can not be used on any other car reprogrammed or not.

To paraphrase and reword your assumption

Over the years so many posts have been made on MBWorld and extra keys have been discussed and the answers posted.

I guess? You can't get aftermarket or secondary market keys for the MB's with fob keys. Yes, I had to show my license and registration, it did ship out of Texas and I got them in 3 days.

There is no work around, you have to have them done through the dealership and it costs $240.

You do get the newer type fob though, actual buttons and chrome accents.

If the dealership in northern VA was only $240, I may do it. I called them up one day and asked how much it would be and it was like $400
