Karmen 62 mm pulley

Anyone running one on the c32? How's the quality? How many miles? How's it holding up? It appears to be steal. Is that right?

I am running a Karmen pulley.

Quality wise it is the best currently available. Very good design (different bearing). True 62 mm diameter and matches the belt perfectly. I have had no belt slippage and don't have any pulley saver kit.

As for other vendors... claim 61 mm but think about this. They use standard bearing which is 55 mm and the belt requirements are set to 7,2 mm. Sum these figures and you get 62,2 mm. Where have they squeezed that 1,2 mm from?

And yes, I have run 65 mm and 61 mm pulleys also.

How many miles you got on it? And when you say quality is better what do you mean?

I have had it about 3000 km. Installed a year ago (I don't drive my car at winter).

Quality wise I mean material (aluminium vs. steel), rivets and grooves for the belt (angles and depth).

You might want to check with crossfire guys. They have plenty of experience.

I definitely agree re: steel v. aluminum construction. Aluminum spinning at high rpm under load for long durations of time create quite a concern for me. I feel that if I drive more than 20 miles I'll start getting paranoid that a catastrophic failure is imminent. Piece of mind is worth the increased price.

Any other feedback?

Karmann pulley

I have ran the 62 pulley for over a year without any problems. I do have a pulley saver kit, but with the fuel upgrades, the car is a handful. I still have a 65 Code 3 that I would let go for the right price as well. I will be at the Chicago or should say Monee 1/2 mile event in a few weeks.

I have a Code3 aluminum pulley …. in the closet. The rivet holes elongated and it rattles. Switched to a ASP 178 crank pulley which makes a little more boost and power than the 64.7 mm supercharger pulley. Stay with steel if you want a supercharger pulley.

I wouldn't own an aluminum either. It's a gen 1 steel pulley. I don't care for crank pulleys.

Veloci - i just added a 178mm ASP crank pully. Been very pleased with the power gain! i am going to dyno my c32 with the added in the next month or so but was curious if you (or others) have dyno'd with the 178mm pulley and tune upgrade and what HP and TQ numbers to expect above stock???

Man, it's hard to remember! I had a dyno session when I switched from my Code3 to 178 ASP pulley. I saw 17 ft lbs torque and 16 hp increase on the same tune. However I also installed a pulley saver kit at the same time. (no cats on my car) Results may vary with the cats intact. Maximum boost varied from gear to gear with the top of 3rd. showing the highest numbers. I believe the hp with the 178 and dyno tune was 339 on my local Mustang dyno.

I searched and copied the 178 boost Nos. from a 1/4 mile run that I posted on another forum.

Lets post boost results for the 178 crank pulley. I logged (OBD2) boost the evening of the 28th of september with a DA of 1900 and this is what was logged.
Max boost in 1rst: 15.9 psi from 4450 rpm to redline
Max boost in 2nd: 16.9 psi from 5400 rpm to redline
Max boost in 3rd: 17.4 psi from 5500 rpm to redline
After shifting to 4th until letting off was 15.8 psi. (12.022 @ 116.12)

Now I have a boost sensor in the manifold elbow and they are a bit different. Where and how you read them will change the absolute values.
