new noise in the c32 ... any ideas

Hi there... Any idea what causing this noise? Belt or pulleys?
Loose belt or shot pulley?:

I've had the sc bearing replaced and apparently the idler pulley (not sure I trust that actually happened)

Seems to sound like this only on cold starts and only started happening after I changed the sc bearing (although that's also when it started getting real cold). Once warm still sounds like a wobbly something from inside the cabin.

Any thoughts? Just ordered a psk. Thinking of ordering the water pump and alternator pulleys as well to be sure.

Also seems to go quite for a couple of days with some belt grip spray.

Not sure if this is related but I suspect it is. This is a wobbling noise I can hear in the cabin. The noise changes with engines revs, gets faster as revs rise. Most noticable at idle since the engine noise downs it out at anything above 2100rpm. Most noticeable in the left hand side footwell area but easily hear in person on the right hand side (driver's seat in AU)

Might need to turn the volume up.

I would inspect your belt and all of your pulleys. What does the tensioner pulley look like? Is it jumping around alot? You might want to invest in a stethoscope. They're like 10 bucks at autozone and can really help diagnosing stuff like this.

Yeah I inspected the belt and pulleys visually and using a breaker bar up to my ear. Idler and sc pulleys sound OK to me although there seems to be a little play in the sc clutch when moving it by hand left to right. Should the clutch be spinning when in idle? I can stop the clutch from spinning by hand meaning its not engaged and I can feel a tapping through it when I do that.

The belt is showing signs of wear/fraying around the edges but the ribs look intact with no cracking.

Tensioner is bouncing around a little... Not sure if it's the pulley or the tensioner itself the problem here. Also the crank pulley looks like there's a little wobble but could just be the pattern of the dirt making it look like it's wobbling.

Next step I guess is pull the belt off and test by hand. Might wait for the psk to arrive.

Anyone got a 65mm sc pulley they wanna sell... I'll chuck that in while I'm at it.

See what happens after you install the PSK. I bet that takes care of it. IIRC, people have had issues with the crank pulley being unbalanced. I could be completely off base though. That might have just been with some of the initial aftermarket pulleys.

Yeah will do ... Psk just got posted so probably get it late next week with any luck. Hopefully I can score a smaller sc pulley before then too

This is the weird noises the sc clutch makes... Not sure if that's normal can someone confirm?
Is this normal on a supercharger clutch?:

I had this noise on my C32 about two years ago. It is supercharger clutch. Unfortunately it is expensive to replace.

I was really hoping you wouldn't say that :'(

Do you have a part number? Is this something that needs to be replaced immediately... Or can I get around to it in my own time and put up with the noise?

I just ordered a psk and an ec pulley (and a behr rad to be safe) and am hoping to not spend too much more on it for the minute.

Anyone know whether the loose sounding clutch is something to worry about? Will it implode and cause copious amounts of damage if it doesn't get changed? My indie said it's noisy and annoying but won't affect performance or function.

So I got my indie to check out the belt pulley noises. Belt removed and spun by hand. Water pump sounds real bad ... Lower idle pulley also rattles. Psk would solve the idle pulley but he's now trying to source a water pump. Anyone got a part number for this? I know I'm gonna get reamed if I go to mb.

OK so all pulleys change now ... Noise is reduced but there taping on the interior is still there. My indie reckons it's a chain noise from the timing chain. Apparently $$$$ to replace but not to worry about for now. He's checking the exhaust headers for leaks next time I take it down. For now he says "enjoy driving it!" And I will
