My first AMG (C55 build progression)
Hello everyone, names Rafael and I just purchased my first Mercedes Benz not too long ago. It's a 2006 Mercedes Benz C55 AMG with 62,000 miles on the odometer.
The car is completely bone stock besides a deleted resonator that I found out about after I purchased it.
Things I've done to the car so far:
K&N air filter drop ins, purchased carbon fiber rear diffuser(Yet to be installed), the power steering was making noise so I sucked out the old PS fluid and replaced it with CHF 11s but it still makes noise not as much as before but there's still noise (Normal?). I then took the car out to my local drag strip to baseline it and there happened to be a Dyno there so I decided to run it to get more baselines set. I was a bit upset the car only made 277hp to the wheels which surprised me, but then again I don't think these portable Dyno's are very accurate. (Torque wasn't measured)
Things to be done(In order):
Secondary cat delete, drag radials/slicks for the rears, long tube headers, and lowering springs or coilovers not sure yet(Honestly just looking for a nice drop in ride height).
If I could find a cheap way to supercharge this monster it would be the perfect car in my eyes. So if anyone can point me in the direction of a used kit or a cheap method to supercharge this thing I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome! Anything in the car to get that 3655lbs? That's a good 100lbs over their alleged curb weight.
So the hp was a bit low, I agree. What was your 1/4 mile time though?

Obviously I don't know your DA or the temp that day, but I wouldn't worry about that dyno number based on that slip. A 2.32 60' is... uh... well... **** poor(to be expected with traction control kicking in) yet you still ran a 13.48 @106. Pretty darn good.

These cars are roughly 298-300hp or so stock. Tq is around that number too.
That timeslip is a little high. When I was stock I was able to get down to 13.075. If it's your first time dragging the car you'll need a few runs before you get the hang of it and times start dropping. You won't break into the 12's without some minor mods though.
Car looks to be in great shape.

I also installed my CF diffuser today the fitment is perfect on the right side but the left it's a bit off. I bought it from a Taiwanese seller on Ebay
Also is this normal running temperature for our cars?

I had 255/35 rear tires Hankook V12 Evo (these tires suck btw, I replaced them with Continental DW, 265/35 now), ESC off, no dyno mode. The launch is what is key and will take some practice. I am no expert but always working to improve on it. EDgineered on this forum is a pro at dragging. We've gone together a few times and he has good pointers.
Yes, that is a normal operating temperature for the car.

Cheap, supercharger, and Mercedes so NOT go together! It looks like you got a real nice car, so I would just enjoy it for what it is. If I were to do it all over again, I would have done the Kleemann (or MBH) headers with the custom exhaust like I had (the exhaust is VERY restrictive on these cars) and a Quaife LSD and call it a day.

Awesome car! I do not know if it is because I do not pay attention, but it looks like the direction the wheel is spinning changes several times on that dyno run. Must be the design or my old eyes playing tricks on me.
That is a good chunk of change for a C55, but the miles are low.

Definitely true, lol
Power mods = not cheap
Suspension mods = not cheap either, but definitely more manageable
Put some Kleemann or MBH on, cut the cats out, get a dyno tune, maybe do an intake or at least K&N or other high flow filters and you'll be happy. If you focus on handling there is a lot of room to go with, which IMO is better suited for my style of driving at least. I love mountain driving on twisties and am looking for some good track days this year.
So far I've upgraded to H&R sway bars, have coilovers and adjustable camber and sway links going on on the 24th. Looking for some lightweight wheels after that and better tires. There's also a lot of room to improve braking with fluid, SS lines, rotors and pads which I will also do eventually as well. Hoping after some solid track days and tuning I can figure out how to best set all of these adjustable components up to maximize my performance and track times.
All in all though, you're driving a 4 door family sedan that goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds and is 10 years old and costs less than $20k to get. That's definitely satisfying enough for me.

I too have deleted resonator and secondary cats. Actually, the previous owner did that. Loud enough for me, and the sound isn't unreasonably loud.
Re: grilles - it's funny because the CLK guys want the C55 grille, and it seems like the C55 guys want the CLK star grille. I have both, and can swap them out as the mood changes. Just don't ever sell your C55 grille though, I think that is a hard part to come by given the low production numbers of the C55 versus all of the other variants of the CLKs made.

I don't like the star grille to be honest, I love the clean simple look
I think I just need some long tube headers and a tune and I can call the car complete in my book.

2005 C55 black on black aka DVS C55, 2007 C230 sport silver on black for the boss
Let the car cool down for about an hour if possible before making passes.
Turn off ESP
S mode is best. M if you prefer and are great at perfect full throttle shifts.
Don't drive in the water box, drive around it and then back up to give yourself room, but not into the water. Punch it to spin the tires but just a quick punch to clean the tires off. Do it once more. If you do this a third time traction control will kick in. If you do the two dry spins and then spin excessively on launch the TC will still kick in and you will have a 50hp car for 3 seconds. Seriously.
Launch off idle, up to 750rpm. Don't overload the trans to 1000rpm or +. Based on the 60ft you were spinning all day....... if you get your 60ft down to 2.0 or better, the .30 savings, or more, will come off the 13.48.
Apply throttle smoothly but quickly, don't just floor it. If the wheels start to spin hold throttle for a milli-second before applying more throttle.
Its all about the launches in our cars.....
Hope this helps.

Badge looks good. Who's that w204 next to you?
Ed gives good advice
If you want louder sound, Kleemann headers. Best decision I ever made was to get those, which get rid of the primaries, and with a dyno tune. Sound is amazing.

Traction control off this time I assume?
You're 60ft'er certainly improved(.3), but that ET should have came down more I feel like.
Don't need slicks, drag radials are good for .2 in any given decent hp car. Maybe it's my inexperience with these cars, but @13.2, 106mph seems a bit low though, especially having run 106 last time. Of course, different day different variables and all that.

if your looking to supercharge your car, heres a gen 2 hps for sale, I just installed mine, im on 5 psi. the car is a beast. pm me for details. I ran my kit a little different. I went with bigger injectors and a full ecu tune. and a walbro 255l in tank fuel pump.
I cant copy and paste, go on ebay and search HPS gen 2 supercharger kit. its on there for 2500 obo. it is a complete kit
