Help With Rubbing

Hi, this is the first time I've posted here. I have a 02 C32 and I just got some Brabus monoblock VI in 19's. And I am rubbing pretty bad in the rear around corners. I am running 265 tires in the rear..could this be the problem?? The car is also not lowered.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Dennis

not to worry

There is a flange in the rear wheel well that needs to be ground down. This flange conects the bumper to the rear fender and can be felt with your hand if you feel around in the wheel well. It is located a bit behind the wheel.

There is also a bolt in this area and that bolt may need to be re-located a bit further back in order to solve the rubbing issue.

Brabus has a 400 buck fender modifcation in order to solve all rubbing issues. They do this in addition to rolling the front and rear fender lips. If you need more help, call brabus NA and they will help you find a shop to solve the issue.

Your tires should be ok. Just stay away from S-03's being that they run very wide in every size.

Thanks for all the quick replies....can this flange be filed down by myself? or is it better to send it out to a shop. After spending so much on these rims I don't really feel like another 400 dollars. And also how hard is it to relocate that bolt?
Thanks
Dennis

correct me if i am wrong Harris, when i had 19s on my car, i was rubbing only 'cause my car was lowered with H&R, once i "upgraded" to RennTech springs it raised the car back up 3/4", i stopped rubbing completely, even with people in the back (it was still a 35mm drop from stock) I am also running 19x 9.5 in the rear with 265s Pirelli tires.. so i am guessing WA-C32's offset is wrong 'cause i find it rather strange that he is rubbing on stock suspension.. and the C32 fenders already come rolled, the reason why Brabus is charging 400 bucks is because they are going to shave off the "extra" rolled lip. They will shave it off then seal it off (so it's not prune to rusting). I would call back the place you got the wheels from and ask about the wheels. also when I was rubbing with my 2", i had the car jacked up, and removed the rear wheels and got a mechanic there to shave off that flange and relocate the screw.. it took him a whole of 20 mins to do it.. and paid him 20 bucks under the table to do it.

I have the same problem, but I have the Brabus 18"s. My rear alignment was off. After getting that corrected, I only have the problem when 4 or 5 people are in the car. I used a dremmel to trip part of that tab off, but it still rubs. I plan on taking in to a body shop and letting them do it the right way.

Just needs a rear shave and relocate, my .02

Some tires run extra wide though, and 19s can make that issue worse.

No no...

Dont get me wrong I was not saying it is 400 bucks to roll the fenders. Instead Brabus clearly knows there is a fitment issue with the car so clearly doing what they see fit would solve the issues.

Fixing that little flange in the rear should solve your issue. It is a very simple thing to sovle being that it takes about 10-20 minutes.

If you want pictures I have pictures I think I have some.

Dremel

I have 19x10's in the rear. Get a dremel with a metal cutting disc, it's pretty easy to shave off the part of the bracket that's rubbing. No need to roll the fenders, they are factory rolled. Just get some bright light under there when your cutting and take your time!

You might want to get a thicker spring pad too. This helped on mine.

dremel

By the way, if you're going to use the dremel, use safety goggles! Metal particles will be flying all over.

I went to a local shop today too see how much they wanted to cut the flange out and they wanted 4 hrs of labor at $85 an hour. CynCarvin32 could you please send the pictures to masterd7@hotmail.com. I think I am going to try this myself.
Thanks
Dennis

Weird, I am lowerd on Intrax with Brabus V1 9.5 rear.
I barley ever rub and I have full audio in the trunk.
I run 265/30/19 Toyo T1s
Did you get the Brabus spacers? Or did you get replica Brabus Wheels.

AMGrider - I have seen pictures of your car when I did a search. That thing is really cool. Where did you get your widebody done and how much did it cost?

Vader13 - The wheels are original brabus wheels but after reading your post about the brabus spacers I went and checked. The spacers are extremely thick. The wheels stick out pretty far, the fronts stick out further than the rears. I am going to have to change the spacers in the frong but I am going to keep the ones in there rear and just cut the flange off and relocate the bolt because I really like the look. What size spacers are you using?

Thanks for all the help guys
