Where to find spacesaver spare for c55
So, my spare tire is crap. Where do I find another?
And is it really not safe to use one more than 6-7 years old?
Confused as always!

I have seen a few on ebay. its not really safe to drive on any tire past its date code. That being said if it is used in an emergency situation and taken off very shortly after it would probably be fine. What happened to yours?

Yea, the only one I can find on ebay right now is also like 8 years old.
Mine was never good. We admittedly didn't check it when we got the car. The spare leaks right at the valve. The tire guys I asked said they don't repair spares.
I tried searching even for a new one but haven't come up with anything. Checking with a couple shops in the area as well.
Thanks!!

UPDATE: the one on ebay apparently fits 2006 c55 not 2005 c55, according to the seller, although I would have thought they'd be the same.

I had a look around and it appears that this is a dealer only thing and is around $600. I would just pay for roadside and put a can of fix-a-flat in the trunk.

You know this got me thinking, my space saver is the original from the car! If my car was built in 2004, that makes it nearly 12 years old! Never used, looks brand new. But it's probably bad by now, who knows.
Anyway, I think there was another post on here long ago about someone looking for the same, but you can only really find it from Germany. It's like 6 or 700 bucks, plus the weight of shipping it over here from across the water. Not cheap.
Me? I carry a can of fix-a-flat in the trunk as well as the spare tire. I figure I'd have two sources of getting me out of a tough situation. Tire shops hate fix-a-flat, but you never know when you made need it "right now".

I have fix a flat in my trunk too. that with the stock air pump and roadside makes me think about dumping the spare all together. Also MB roadside will always come get you and to w you to the closest dealer if your really in a pinch.

Update: Inquired with mechanic. Problem was at the stem so he tried to see if he could just replace the stem. No dice. He'd have to remove the tire from the rim and he said it appears to be permanently fixed on there.
he told me same thing y'all have said--can of Fix A Flat and a compressor and just hope for the best.
Thanks for all the help,
