Installing Factory NAV in a 2002 C32 (US Model)
I was under the assumption that US model W203's came pre-wired with the wiring loom and GPS antenna.
What else will I need to do after installing the NAV to get all the features activated?
Thanks
I haven't purchased one yet, but am looking to get a total cost of ownership behind the project.

Look at the yellow heading:

The above link has lots of info and pictures.

Can anyone tell me more definitely if the US 2002 C32 comes with the GPS antenna and correct wiring harnesses? I want to avoid taking the whole car apart just to find out.

I've seen the Mercedes NAV and it's one of the worst ones out there. The Japanese do it MUCH better and I even like BMW's better. But I feel the look completes the dash much better and even if it is not that great, it can still be usefull. I used to have one on my M3 and I really liked it and used it often.
It's CD based, no idea how many to cover the US though.

When buying a NAV unit (Part.No.A203 827 53 42) for my 2002 C32, do I also need to purchase a wiring loom and GPS antenna?

The W203's do not come Completely pre-wired for COMAND. They do come Mostly pre-wired for COMAND.
An underdash gps antenna comes with the mbenznl package. While the US W203 has a GPS antenna pre-installed, the wire is not run up to the center console, hence the need for the underdash antenna. There is an extra loom provided by mbenznl, i'm not sure offhand exactly what it's functionality is, only that it snaps into the pre-existing wiring and then into the COMAND. It's pretty intuitive what to do - if you go with the mbenznl package.

I am also looking to get one for my C32, found one going for sale on eBay for only 900 bucks!
Steve quoted me a price of 1,500...going to try to get one at a bargain, if not I'll get it from Steve.
Thx for the DIY link guys
CD based nav uses 11 cds to cover US (I only use CD 1 anyway)
It was a pretty easy install (if you've done minor car audio equipment install before)
There are a few things I had to do (since some connectors are different between crap radio and crap nav...hehe) there are a few pins that have to be moved and by comparing the pin chart of the two systems and some common sense you can do this pretty easily
(I think Steve simplifies this with a modified connector so that you wont have to move pins...if not, I lied)
The 'hard' part was conecting to the speed signal from the bottom of the fuse box (yes I removed fuse box in engine compartment and tapped into speed sensor from bottom of it)
Anyway aside from the actual NAV I had to buy a GPS Antenae, a connector plug from the dealer to hook in CD Changer (and don't forget the fragile little metal pins) and finally a wire loom to tap into the speed signal. This ran me a grand total of $964.38.
After all this junk...My nav works great and it looks nice. Whether there is an easier way i dunno but $500 more for some piece of mind can be worth it if you're not as crazy as me to be doing surgical procedures on a highly 'electronisized' (new word) piece of equipment (ur car)
Enjoy,
