Fuel economy question
How far is everyone getting with a full tank of gas? I think my actual range is only somewhere in the low 200's (miles)... I normally refuel at about 1/4 on the fuel gauge and I'm normally somewhere around 150 miles since topping off. I put in about the right amount of gas for to correspond to the fuel gauge being at 1/4 tank too.
I don't remember what fuel economy the computer is giving me, -I think- its claiming about mid 18 - mid 19 mpg, but 3/4 of a tank is about 12 gal so 150/12 = 12.5 mpg. 19 mpg at 12 gal consumption would be 228 miles so I'm clearly way below 19 mpg.
While I don't really care much about fuel economy per se, I do care about getting proper number in the trip computer.
How's everyone doing on actual range for city/highway driving in an "spirited" driving? Does your observed fuel economy even come close to what the trip computer displays?

I was getting ~18mpg and when the car was at the dealer for some other work I asked them to look at the fuel quantity setting in the computer. When I got it back the ticket said no codes found. But I am now getting ~22-23mpg's so they made some change. Although I feel like I have lost a little power, but maybe I am just getting too used to the car.

I am getting between 17mpg and 19mpg. Depending upon how many highway miles I drive. Some tire dealerships recommend increasing your tire pressure to get higher mpg. I have noticed that the increased pressure has not improved my mpg, and it makes a harder ride.

So I take it both of you have fuel economy readings from the trip computer which is approximately consistent with how you refuel the car? I.e., at 18 mpg you should have a range on a full tank approximately equal to 16 gal x 18 mpg = 288 miles?

I get between 350 and 500km on a tank. In metric that is between 6 and 8 km per liter. If I take the computer's read-out it is about 95% accurate. By the way, what is the conversion from km/liter to miles/gallon?

According to Google: "1 mile per gallon = 0.425143706 kilometers / l" and "1 miles = 1.609344 kilometers"
So 6 km/ltr = 6/0.425 = 14 mpg
and 8 km/ltr = 8/0.425 = 18 mpg
350 km = 350/1.61 = 217 miles
500 km = 500/1.61 = 310 miles

That's my main problem. I just checked my computer and over the last 590 miles it thinks I've been getting 19.6 mpg. In actuality I've been refueling the car at 1/4 tank after travelling every 150 miles => ~ 200 miles/tank => 200 mi /16.4 gal = 12 mpg. 19.6 mpg = 321 miles/tank, and I'm nowhere close to that!

I drive mainly on the highway and getting 22 to 23 mpg. I have a 255 mile drive and do it on a little less than 3/4 of a tank.
The only complaint I have is damn rattles. I took it in and they fixed the dash but there is another rattle in the door behind the driver seat. I will be taking it again!

Fill up and set your trip odometer. Drive until reserve light comes on, and then fill up again. Divide the miles on your trip odometer by the number of gallons you put in on the second fill-up. The result is your MPG. I would say that, depending on your driving style, if you are getting less than 16 MPG, there is something wrong.

I'm pretty sure that I normally get way below 16 mpg. I just did a fill-up just before the gauge got to the reserve level, and at the previous fill up I had reset the trip odometers and the trip computers.
According to the trip computer I'm getting 21.7 mpg since the last fill-up. The last fill-up included a trip back from Summit Point, WV to the DC metro area and I took that trip home at a sedate pace. All that highway driving should greatly elevate my milage, but at the pump I put in 13.163 gal to fill-up and the odometers were at 230 miles => 17.5 mpg.
Take out that 80 mile highway trip I normally don't drive and you can see my milage would be much lower. Like I said, I think my normal range is only 200 miles for a full tank which would give me about 12 mpg.
Noone else has a trip computer which is giving totally wrong milage information? Before I take it into the dealer I'd like to know what might be wrong.
