When you roll down the windows with the key....

When you are outside of the car and you hold down the unlock button for the windows to roll down, how far do you need to be from the car? For me, I cannot get them to roll down unless my remote is less than 1 foot away from the driverside door handle.

yeah...

that's usually the case....If you replace your battery for the key it will extend the range to like 7 feet but it only lasts for like 2 weeks.

Sometimes mbz can be so close to making something cool if only they took it one small step forward (this goes for their comand systems as well)

Enjoy,
TB

Yes the range sucks, you have to point it at the sensor. On my audi and vw i can do it from a good 10 ft from the car.

Something must be wrong with my car...

I can raise and lower the windows while standing a few feet behind the taillights. My batteries are the originals, and I've owned it for two years.

cant remember 100% but i think the trunk has a sensor as well, so it would make sense you could do it from the rear.

The lock/unlock is controlled by radio frequency and the convenience features, like rolling down the windows is controlled by infrared. Infrared work by line of site, so you almost have to have the key fob pointed at one of the sensors.

Trunk sensor for the key?

LOL!.
Does not exist on my car.I tried it with a 3/4" slab of 6061 between the key and the trunk, while leaving the path to the door
sensor clear. No change/windows and sunroof still open and close from 10 feet away.
