Do I have HID or Halogen?

I've searched, I feel like an idiot. But how do I tell if I have HID or Halogen headlights. Go ahead I can take it. 05 C55

If you have your original issued owner's manual, it will identify the bulb type. Alternatively, you can check to see if you have reflectors (halogen) or projectors (HID). Lastly, you can pull out the bulb and if it's an H7 bulb, you have halogens, otherwise, HID

On the C55, if you have a reflector based headlight, you have halogen.

If you have a projector in your headlight (it's a 3" round glass eyeball), you have HID.

Thanks guys. I wish I had the original owners manual. They have the 3 inch round eyeball. LOL But they really don't seem that bright. My C230 seemed to have brighter lights. But I still don't think I have them adjusted quit right yet. They were pointing at the ground in front of the car when I got it.

Might just be an aged bulb and time for new one.

Might as well I have to change the ballast in the passenger one, getting bulbs makes sense. I'll do it as soon as I get the car back from getting the rear differential seal replaced.

I will do that as soon as I find a ballast at a decent price. The reviews on line on those bulbs are very good. Thanks

Mine do not do this. I definitely have HID's, I took a bulb out to be sure.

At least on mine they do it when I switch the key to position two. Try turning the headlights on with the key in position 0/1 then turn to position 2 and you'll see it.

Ha, it worked. LOL But dang, I need to take it out tonight and adjust the headlights again. Arrggh, I don't know how the previous owner ever drove the car at night.

My '06 C55 has halogen headlights. Xenon headlights have headlight squirters/washers.

Take a look at your headlight switch as well. You can see the button for headlight washers.

Do you have an HID kit or some special bulbs installed? That light looks like 6000k.

I do have the Headlight washer button but I don't know if there is a wiper arm in there can't run out to the front of the car fast enough. LOL Man, does the washer shoot the water out, all the way up onto the windshield.

Yes, since it's basically trying to clean off the lens with just pressure (the old school benz's had mini wipers on the lenses!), it definitely has some power

Yea, the water shooting up over the hood and onto the roof freaked me out.
I finally downloaded a manual. Should have done that last week. The car is similar to my '06 C230 but way different more doodads. Now to find a COMMAND manual.
