In europe the SLK55 starts at around 55,000 and the C55 at 53,000, both without tax.

Holy cow...isn't that almost $10K more than the C32?? If these prices are right, then the C55 will be the most expensive in it's class (among S4, M3, CTS-V). I guess these upgrades don't come for free!

with option by option, the M3 will be more expensive if it ordered with the SMGII. If not, the C32 will be more expensive most of the time.

R129 SL55 AMG & W208 CLK55 AMG
here in Bahrain, european cars are way too expensive. We also only pay 5% customs tax.

The problem is that our currency is pegged to the US dollar, and right now, it aint doin too well against the EURO!

These are the latest prices as per my visits yesterday to the dealers.

BMW E46 M3 (SMGII)
19 inch wheels
Laguna Seca Blue

$ 76,923.00

Mercedes Benz W203 C55 AMG
18 inch wheels
Brilliant Silver

$ 71,618.00

Mercedes Price

Mercedes has always been the highest price among bmw and audi. M3 is retailed at 38k pound in uk and C32 is 44k pound. Even a SMG is under 40k pound.

My place has probably the highest car price in the world. I paid around US$178,000 for my parallel imported C32. An official import is around US$208,000. All our cars here are imported, so all are subjected to the same custom tax and duties.

a fully loaded M3 SMGII actually costs a little more than the fully loaded C32 in the states.

also, in Taiwan, the M3 cost/base around $3.3 million Taiwanese dollar while the C32 cost around $2.9-3.0 mil. That's about $94k for the M3 and $85k for the C32 in US dollars.

I think one reason why MB is higher priced than it's competitors is because of name. But I think a major playing factor in the higher price is cuz of SAFETY. They spend lots and lots of money and time researching new safety features and improving upon current ones. They pioneered crumple zones, ABS and a whole bucket of other safety features that are in use on MB's today. MB's are known to be one of the safest vehicles out there on the road. My .02

C 32 AMG (203.065)
It is clear we pay for the name Mercedes-Benz.. but with that name we buy quality (well most of the time hehe), reliabilty, lots of force and great design.

This is possible as distributors in different country may expect a different profit margin. The best guide is to take europe or even better, germany pricing.

Over my place C32 and M3 SMG is going at the same price. All distributors here are required to declare their car cost before tax. C32 is 10% higher than M3.

Although most BMWs are generally cheaper than a equivalent MB here, MB is still the top seller. Guess people here prefers MB

I love the V8 and quad exhaust, but hate the new steering wheel.

In South Africa the M3 was also more expensive than the C32. With the C55 it is about evenly priced. BTW, the C55 is selling for R588000 here, that is about $84000. That is about $10000 more than what the C32 was.
